I'm trying to figure this out. I looked up online if Medicaid pays for latuda. Didn't find anything. Then I googled if Medicaid pays for brand name. No real answer. Then i called my HMO for medicaid and they said i had to call the state consortium. So I called the state consortium where I live and the lady said maybe but she doesn't know. I'd like to bring up with my doc next month if we can lower zyprexa to 7.5 or 10mg and add 20 or 40mg of Latuda. I've taken latuda b4 and it helps. Zyprexa helps the most, but I'm gaining weight like crazy. Anyone know much about medicaid?

Medicaid is different for each state. Even then, those that offer multiple insurance carriers, there can be differences between them. Maybe someone here who lives in your state an help you. Sorry.

Last year a friend wanted Medicaid here in Tennessee to pay for Latuda and it was denied as it’s over 1000.00 a month for cash / self pay.
I hope your start is different.

In my state, Medicaid pays for brand-name drugs only if generic meds have been tried and found to be ineffective. That goes for any drug, not just psych meds.

If you are denied by Medicaid or if they don't cover it (or they do but the copay is too high) you can apply for patient assistance with an exemption. Just include a note that explains that you do not meet all criteria but that Latuda is not adequately covered by your insurance and you cannot afford it, yet it is an effective drug for you.
I've done this a lot of times and have never been denied. Sunovion Support(R): Prescription Assistance Program | Information for Caregivers
