It is taking me forever to find a therapist with a good profile and to schedule appointments. One of them called me back and said the earliest appointment she had was the Sept. 18, but after searching around, I think that may be the best I can do. Others I call aren't taking new patients. One I called was going to be out of the country until the end of September. There is one other who hasn't yet called back, so I'll see. I called back and told the therapist to call me to schedule for the 18th. She has good ratings and no 2-3 month waiting list like another had. If these 2 don't work out, I'll call some farther away. The one out of the country even works with EDs, and that is hard to get nearby. It figures.

I think finding a therapist who is able to see you within 2 weeks is quite rapid as far as getting into therapists is concerned.
I know you are under a lot of stress. ![]() Your viewpoint seems skewed a bit. Finding a therapist willing to see you within 2 weeks is a blessing! I know it does not seem fast enough right now. Others have mentioned DBT a few times. I think you would benefit greatly from DBT training. I mention this out of concern for you. Maybe you can get in sooner via asking to be placed on a cancellation list, as well as making a firm appt? I hope this works out for you. ![]() WC

Yeah, I called her back to schedule on the 18th, but she hasn't returned my call yet.

An option is to schedule appointments with both the September therapist and the out of the country therapist, if your insurance allows that. If it does, and you like the idea, I wouldn't tell them about any temporary two-timing. Or, you can always have the second waiting if you don't like the first. Or if you like the first, you can cancel the second or even ask the second if you can call back if the first isn't a good fit.

Yes, that is true. I'll have to call the other back and see if I can leave a voicemail for her to call when she returns.

Nope, that is not possible with the other therapist. The recorded message just says to call back after she returns to the country. Though I'll make a note of her name, and she does the other stuff too, CBT, anxiety disorders, mood disorders, stress management, co-morbidity even is on her sort insurance company profile. I'll put a reminder to call her once she gets back. Her first listed speciality though is eating disorders, so that would lead me to believe that is her area of expertise.

Hope you find one that is helpful and can see you timely. I am in a similar boat with finding a psychiatrist. My insurance limits me to two offices and neither are taking patients until November at the earliest. Strangely, I was able to make an appointment to see a psychiatrist via telemedicine at the same price, but cannot see him in his office.

Ugh, the therapist called back to schedule, and she neglected to mention that she does not take insurance! And I found her on my insurance website!
Deep breath. I submitted some online info for a therapist in another nearby clinic. Well, they have a nearby location and others farther away, but the nearby clinic is the main clinic. Supposedly, I should hear from the therapist by the end of tomorrow. Also, they had a section where you could submit your insurance info, so at least you know they take your insurance.

I’m not sure when the last time was or where location wise you have tried to see a therapist. Two weeks is really good. It took me four weeks to see a psychology. Their are individuals waiting months .......

The last 2 times I tried, I was able to get appointments within a week. Maybe just luck? Of course, neither of those worked out, though. No connection with either one.
Unfortunately, I can't see the one with the 2 week wait because she failed to mention she does not accept insurance. And I found her on the insurance website. I'm thinking I'll see what I can get from the place I filled out online forms that does take my insurance and then call the ED therapist once she is back. I have no idea if she's got a wait list or not.

Just for appearance sake see any T you can find right now... you can always find a better fit if it doesn’t work out once CPS case is closed.

Yes, this is what I'm trying to do. I had originally called the place I emailed all the info to. They said usually the therapists make their own appointments, but I could go online and request a specific one after reading the profiles. The site form said I should hear back in 1 business day. If that doesn't happen, I think the main office does have the ability to schedule you for a therapist, but if the therapist has a problems with it (something else going on a the time, another appt. just made, etc., then it might get cancelled & removed, but they said the therapists are consistent with updating their schedules as soon as they can. Now I am unsure whether I should just schedule with the main office or wait on the therapist I sent the form to to contact me to set up an appointment. Better to call the main office maybe, see who has the soonest appt.? I am 99% sure they all work with mood disorders such as bipolar and probably anxiety too.
