I know I have to be on meds. But without them I have intense, vivid, out of body experiences. I gain wisdom from dreams. Before I was on meds I dreamed like this a lot... since childhood. Now the dreams are gone.
I think the anti-psychotics are the culprit. I feel like a part of me is lost. Does anyone else lose their dreaming life due to meds. Are you less intuitive? The veil between this world and the other seems to thicken. |

I've not used AS drugs, but I tend to dream less when I'm taking ADs. Or at least I don't recall as many dreams. I suspect that my sleep cycle does get changed, but it's probably that I'm not waking close enough to the dream parts to recall them.

I have remembered more dreams these past 15+ years on antipsychotics and moodstabilizers (I've always taken both) than before I was on meds. Most are really peculiar. Occasionally I have a very notable one or this odd recurring dream about forgetting to go to classes in college (I graduated over 26 years ago). Fortunately, I rarely have nightmares, though that recurring college dream is close to one.
Before meds, I rarely remembered dreams. The ones I did remember before meds were usually flying dreams (which I still occasionally have), being chased by something (like dozens of crabs or ants, etc.), trying to stop my car from continuously flipping over using my mind, and things like that. Generally I always felt better rested in the mornings when I didn't remember dreams, though nowadays I do. I think my past alcohol abuse may have affected my ability to remember dreams some of those pre medication years, but I'm not sure. The most amazing dream of my life was over 27 years ago. I was depressed at college (in real life) and doing poorly on the minimum credits possible to remain on campus. One night I dreamt that I died and went to heaven and my paternal grandfather was standing there smiling at me. I woke up and felt completely at peace, and the depression ended that morning. |

Since I started Latuda three years ago, I don't remember my dreams. My pdoc explained that I'm still dreaming but that I no longer recall the dreams.
I just lay down, go to sleep, and wake up as if a couple of minutes have gone by when in fact the whole night has passed. I don't remember a thing.

I love the flying dreams too! They gave me hope and a knowing that this planet and life are not my native home. That some day I will fly again and my imagination that is blocked in this world is so colorful and wide open in the next existence.
By looking at all the meds everyone is on it seems that we experience the dream thing differently. There is no one set answer. No magic or un-magic pill. I do keep a dream journal but it hasn't been active since the return of ap's. |

I get crazy dreams on Seroquel. Another woman in my support group said the same thing. They're absurd, nonsense dreams and rarely pleasant. Lots of frustration dreams. I get that one of being lost on campus too. I had a nice one about an old friend who was larger-than-life arranging a Cirque du Soleil performance and getting involved in that. That was pleasant.

Vivid, intense, weird, often upsetting dreams. For example, last night I dreamt that my electricity was permanently shut off because there were new houses being built near to my apartment (completely imagined). Sure, the electricity and new houses can be symbolic, but I don;t care. The dreams I'm having are way too intense and tiring. By the way - I think I'm having these vivid dreams since starting Paxil.

I have lots of vivid dreams and they're really detailed and often scary. I would still rather have the dreams than have blank sleep though. I think my meds do influence my dreams

I still dream a lot but they are much different. Fortunately, I haven't had a recurring nightmare that I've had all my life since going on my maintenance level of medicine. The last time I had it I was a week into meds and I thought God was talking to me, telling me he's been sending that dream to tell me how to end the pain: Run my car into a body of water. I bought two bottles of wine to do it and got arrested for DWI on the way to a boat ramp

I have vivid dreams, but not from my psych meds. Surprisingly, Lipitor causes really wild dreams for me.

I do. I seem to remember them less often than before being on meds. Maybe I was waking more then? Vaguely, I remember dreams (usually very mundane, boring things) while on meds though I have had a few doozies too that mostly involve car wrecks.

Yes, I always have since being on psych meds. Sometimes I remember my dreams. Others times I do not.
