Now this is really what gets me about this CPS investigation. First, if I am a mom with MI, do they think an investigation going on with zero communication from them, just fear and anxiety is going to help my mental health?
It's hurting me. It's hurting my husband. And it is hurting my daughter. She is so worried about it, she's had 2 days straight in school where she has struggled in math, and she has never struggled in math; it's always been her strongest subject. She tells me she is worried and anxious. She tells the same to my husband. What are we supposed to do as parents? My daughter is very smart. We had to tell her what was going on, who the lady interviewing her outside was and why, etc. She is getting more upset by this daily because of worrying about the outcome of this investigation. And that is what is killing me. I really wish my therapy appointment were tomorrow.

Just KEEP reassuring her things will be ok and then you yourself look, appear and go about life like everything is just normal and the CPS thing is a non issue.
No talk about it until she is asleep. Sorry this happened to you ![]()

I've also been through these types of investigations. Unfortunately. But I didn't lose my son or go to court. It strikes a kind of terror into the heart of most parents that they could conceivably lose their child.
It is very stressful but you also have some advantages like your intelligence and ability to reach out for help and the fact that your daughter has not been abused or neglected. Maybe you can discuss with your husband and your therapist ways to protect your daughter, ways of reassuring her that everything is going to be ok. You don't want to end up with the whole family traumatized by this experience. I would try to focus on just the day to day. Nothing bad is happening today.

I am trying to just focus on the day. The fact that CPS hasn't removed my daughter from the home or sent me away to live with someone else (which is what I would do if they have no complaints against my husband). I'd really rather have her with my husband and with the least change possible. She hates change, and I can understand that. I don't like it either, and I'm an adult.
I am doing OK so far this morning and hopefully will continue to do alright. We are having foundation work done on the house today (it came with free lifetime warranty for the house when we bought the house from the previous owner. I am sure the company is now kicking themselves for offering this and probably doesn't any longer as it seems not to have this option on their website). Today is supposed be an all day job.
