I might lose my job. I'm scared.

My little company was bought out by a much bigger corporation not too long ago (last week). I don't know if this corporation will lay off a bunch of people or if their work policies will be a nightmare. If I even get to stay, I might lose my ability to work from home. Working from home is the only way I've been able to go to therapy, take bipolar mental health breaks, etc..

I'm devastated. I do not want to work for this corporation because of what they stand for.

Oh no! You have had great plans for purchasing your own home soon! I hope this does not interfere with all you like about your job!

I think I'd take it a step at a time and would try to constantly decide which of my thoughts are fact and which are more fear.

You need potentially problematic changes like …

Please let us know how it's going?

Thinking of you!

I'm not sure if I should buy a house or not. There was NO indication our small company would be bought out. No warning -- nothing. I don't even see how our company would be beneficial to this bigger one. We're tiny and have pretty much northing to offer (in my opinion). I think the bigger company is just dying in some areas and wants to do something about it. So now they're gobbling up small companies. It sucks. Hostile takeover.

Thanks.

Our company is tiny, tiny, tiny. And we got eaten up by one of the Big 4.

I realized after some time that the Big 4 companies generally aren't very nice...

Thinking of you, blue.

I am hoping the Big 4 will allow your office to remain as is. I don't know the odds of this, but am hoping!

Is it best to get your surgery done soon, incase you do lose benefits or benefits change? Or would being out for surgery put you at risk for losing your position? I know it's not legal to do such, yet companies often find a way to do whatever they wish to do.

I hope the buyout won't be as offensive as you suspect it might be. Little do I know! Forgive my ignorance!

I hope you will keep us posted?

Oh Blue, hope this goes well. However, I know how much even a change in manager can change everything. On the upside, a bigger conglomerate type company, tho way smaller than big four took over my sons tiny company. It’s been about a yr and he got a huge raise- they let people go and gave the others the savings. I’m still watching them, but my son is good at what he does.
I’m sure you are working on your resume and will not buy the house til you’re sure things will be ok. Get on Linked In and start networking- conferences, etc if you don’t have a high profile try to get noticed for accomplishments.
Big hugs!

I was in a large co ... eaten by a even bigger co ... that was eaten by an even bigger one ... all in 6 years ...

change (especially when it concerns my ability to earn a living) ... just really sets me off ... it was the trigger for my ip ...

looking back it was not as bad as I thought ... no one lost a job ... yes we changed how we did things ... new people to answer too ... ect ...

just try to keep a good frame of mind ... it may even be better ... better benifits ect ... thinking "what if" will do nothing but depress you ... just keep yourself centered ... try not to be afraid ... worry never changed anything except making us miserable ...

.. love .. Tigger ..

This is outside the realm of my experience, so all I can really say is that I hope everything ends up working out for you once the dust settles. (((((((((bluebicycle)))))))))
