How many do you have unfinished?.
I counted 11 today. I'm sure I'm missing some. Ah, and the more I try to pick up the out of place stuff, the more it grows. Am I unique in this?. Maybe I'm not well.

You are not alone. I have many unfinished projects. I was making a good sized dent in them until SAD hit.

Well... I don't have as many as I would have had a few years ago because we sold our single family home & bought a townhome. Still I do have at least a couple. But mostly it's recurring stuff like cleaning. No matter how many times I do it, pretty soon it needs doing again!

Ha. I have more than I can count...because I’ve forgotten where I put a lot of them, lol. My dad is the same way. He’s 90 so I have no illusions this will get better with age. I’m convinced he is paranoid schizophrenic but he has no interest in examining his own behavior...just everyone else’s, that’s another thread altogether.
I use art as an expressive medium so I could play it off but, I know it’s more echoes of manic cycling than anything else. Even when I finish a piece, to me, it’s not done and it will never be done. I also write fiction and this I can finish- get to my editor and she moves it on from there. Even then, none of the books are truly done, the stories never over. I can always go back into that world and create more even after I declare a series, a fate complete. This is probably the singular reason why I am successful as a writer. However, it’s all in how you perceive things. If you look at your half finished projects as failure then that is what they will be for you. This is a false narrative. It’s just stuff. It holds no emotional weight to it AT ALL. If there were a way to communicate with these piles of matter, they would just know they are piles of matter, not representations of anything at all. Personally,I have come to feel grateful for my various half started bits and pieces. It tells me I’m not done here. I’ve got stuff I can always pick up if the mood strikes me or I can choose to turn it into something else. Humans are unique on this planet. We create for the sake of creation alone. No other spieces does that...except maybe birds and whales. I think those both sing just for the sheer joy of singing but, again, that’s another thread entirely. The point is this. It’s only failure if you decide it is. You can always change your perspective. I hope that helps a bit. ![]() |
