So now Im clean ten straight days Im also working tons of hours to stay engage n to pay down debt. Im happy to be working, and excited I have a chance to live a better life.

But without gambling Im so frigging bored. Ive been walking and guess will work up to biking, but my body is busted up so must be very careful with exercising especially until I lose 40 pounds.

I still get bored even with working so much, light exercise, and doing daily tasks. I guess I need a new non-physical hobby that is fun.

Anyone who struggle with addiction find healthy things to do that provided entertainment and was engaging?

I don't know what to suggest; I haven't had the gambling issue. I do spend too much time online, but I really need that. I think I've seen a section somewhere on this sit for gambling--

Glad you're doing well 10+ days!

Thanks! Was able to get to 12 days and feel good, but very fragile. Im glad Im going to Gamblers Anonymous tomorrow, looking forward to it.

The gambling issue section on this site is not very active, I found another forum and found some fellow addicts to chat with.

Being BP and a gambling addict is a tough combo as gambling is such a manic/depressive activity itself. Im looking forward to removing the highs/lows of gambling and trying to be a better person and work on other issues.

Appreciate it! I was just thinking how far Ive come. I wonder what the path would of have been if not such a gambling sicko. It has affected everything. I did a chart of all the benefits of me being sober and its staggering what an effect its had on my whole existence.

Yes yes and yes. Not going to lie, I still drink (often till black out) about 2-3 times a week. But it’s a lot better than every night like I was. And yes I get so freaking bored!! I’ve picked up pointless hobbies and try to work out at least 3 days a week. I also like to visit family but my dad and brother are both substance abusers which make my visits short. To be honest, I sit on my ***... a lot. It’s when I’m sitting around doing nothing that I get cravings and reach for a drink or a pill. So I guess i don’t really have a answer for you but I do get it! Hang in there and ten days is awesome.

I can relate to what you are going through as I also smoke weed. I cut down from everyday using 3 grams to now about a half a gram. I save so much money and not as tired. Doing well on this low dosage and my doctor is ok with it, but it can cause problem with mania so always examing it. Im contemplating quiting for a few reasons, but it really helps with my body pain, being more physically active and not being depressed. I also clean much better when I smoke, I hate to clean!

Sounds like our boredom can get the best of us. Doing nothing for me seems the kiss of death, Im working more now and going to the Gamblers Anonymous to stay busy, but still have so much open time that I need to figure out how to plug.

Amazon has a great set of 50 I think , sorry can't remember the name ,,,, but they are 30-35 bucks. They have glitter, regular, metallic of each color.

I have colored a lot today as the senseless killing has me wrapped in a knot

Find a routine that is comfortable and stick with it - get up at the same time every day, walk, read, run, pick up a hobby that keeps your mind engaged. Etc. I don't like being bored either......most BP people are driven by challenges. My outlet used to be partying.

Also, be sure to attend any meetings that are recommended by a clinician.

Yah Im finding routine is working well, I cant run due to knee injury so switching to mental hobbies but getting nice walks in and healthy food.

I also used partying as outlet and just dont like to drink anymore and cut my weed smoking down with other people.

Routine is something essential my friend. It is what I’m working on now with working out, cleaning, scheduling schedule time (yes plan time to plan) , laundry, etc.

I agree, routine is everything. Ive been making lists of tasks daily and keeping things routine and working great.

Went to three GA meetings in three days and really helped. Meeting amazing people. 15 days clean and feeling better everyday, my main issue now would be to go into mania. Success also seems to be an issue with me and sometimes the better I get Im just setting myself up for a big fall, so baby stepping a lot of stuff.

I cant wait, I got a 20 pack of markers from the dollar store, hope to have the book next week.

I made it to 17 days sober. I had two incidents last night and today where I was taken right by a casino for work. Im so happy to push through it and not go in. I have an app that tracks my time and I just looked at it and reminded me of the time Ive done and got the frack out of the casino area.

Im doing really well, but today have been very cranky due to tasks that are pissing me off. I cant believe a little stress makes me so upset, but Ive done so little this year and have no idea how to be patient when resistance strikes.

Thanks! Its going to take a lot of time with my search of moral inventory as I have 32 years of dysfunctional living due to gambling. But Im up for the task as the results of me addressing this issue of mine have been very clear the last 17 days.

Today is my 30 day sobriety b-day!!! Next week at GA Ill get my 30 day keychain if I can maintain. I like my chances, Im doing really well!

The combination of GA, an App I use called Clean Time Counter, working extra, exercising, diet, making new friends, keeping in touch with family and being responsible is paying off big time.

I got my adult coloring book and its AWESOME!!!

I got one called Calm the f$#@ Down and its perfect. It has about 20 pages and I was drawn to the last one called "Carpe F$#@ing Diem". Other favorites are "Meh", "Let That **** Go", "Seriously", "Bite Me", and many more.

Thanks once again Cristina for this rec as I put my headphones on and got to work, and I love it. I suck with colors but dont care and will develop my style . My markers are cheap as hell but still work, but for sure will upgrade to some pencils down the road.

Im so hopeful at this point after being in the dumpster for so long.

Also I found a new apartment and move in ten days. I cant wait to escape the construction noise as its so brutal. They start at 6 am now, but leave for work at 4 -5 and come back later in late morning and nap well as so tired. I was shocked I was able to get an apartment without a co-signer as my credit sucks, but guess since I payed off my student loans and a car on time it offsets the credit card disaster from a few years ago.
