How do you protect yourself from harm when you don’t want to protect yourself?

Meds and sharp objects go high up so I need a chair to get them. This only works if you have a weekly med container. You may be able to set up once a week, blister packed, pick up from your pharmacist. I work with my Pdoc to not give me a lot or high dosed/deadly meds. My meds are in blister packs. The extra step helps.

At my worst moment when I felt suicidal and impulsive about it I removed stuff from my house with which I could harm myself. I put it in my car and parked my car a block away so I would have to make an effort to get there. You could also have someone hold onto stuff or come over and keep you company. If you really cannot protect yourself you might need the ED, of course. Stay safe!

As Yellow said ... put as many hurdles between you and things that can harm you as possible.

Stay safe and please go to the ER if your losing the battle.

My meds are weekly and in blister packs too. In my case its because we are making a lot oof changes and blister packs are just preferable to filling med boxes every week or two. In short its so i cant mess things up. Then again im titrating seroquel down so I have to cut them in half. Plus im cutting my haldol in half. But it should be fixed tommorrow with my next week's packs.

In my case:
Weekly blister packs
Promise to stay indoors (too many triggers for me outdoors)
Put together a healthcare management plan when you’re still well enough to follow it.
Tell hubby, pdoc etc
Hand over car keys, wallet, laptop etc to hubby
Take PRN’s
Make your living space ‘bipolar episode’ proof
