...you where first diagnosed as being Bi-Polar? I was 47 or 48, not quite sure and I'm too lazy to figure it out exactly. But it is my understanding the most are identified in their teens or early twenty's. Am I odd in this respect?

BPII. I was diagnosed as BP in my early 50's. Recently. I was diagnosed with severe atypical depression at 15 or 16 y.o.

From what I have read, it's not uncommon for people to be diagnosed as BP in their 40's and 50's.

Post partum depression/depression from 26-30yrs of age

Diagnosed with BP1, Generalised Anxiety disorder etc at 41yrs

I remember being told that BP has a peak onset late teens/early adulthood and a second peak onset in the 40’s (especially for women)

32 years old, but I didn't accept bipolar medications until 34.

I did go to my first doctor for anxiety and depression at about 14. I went a number of times in my 20s, too, but only for depression and anxiety. They'd give me a med that I'd take for a few days to a week, then I'd switch and stop taking the medication (usually an antidepressant). That strategy stopped working. I need bipolar meds.

I know of 3 grown men who were diagnosed in their early 50s. They all went through a manic stage before it happened. I read that men are 100% more likely to develop BPthan women, I read it online so it must be true lmao.

I think I was 17. I don't really remember too well, but I was definitely diagnosed with bipolar before I was 20.

35 or 36, but they diagnosed me with major depression along with anorexia when I was 19. My BP really started to get bad when I was 25, 26. I was treated with SSRIs for over 10 years, even given Zoloft at the end of my pregnancy (they thought it was safer back in 2007). I know the SSRIs didn't help me and sometimes wonder if they did permanent damage to my brain. I was depressed a lot before the BP diagnosis as far as back into high school.

43 I’m 51 now

But looking back my T and I found it showing back at age 6 ..

I just flew through life thinking everyone had a racing mind I didn’t know better. Or times I had to drag myself for months out of bed , I once was treated for depression which I went manic , it did help me work 3 jobs lol

Oh course there was not info at your finger tip Internet back then.
