I was axed off my ssri, wellbutrin, haldol. He is cutting the dose by whatever mg every 3 days. So in a wk I'll be off zoloft, 1 week wellbutrin, 2 wks haldol. I'm doing an IOP and the doc is not liking all the meds. I already changed my signature for this site. But all these med changes make me worry I'll go crazy and end up inpatient. Oh God help me.

Hi Sunshinesworld. Hopefully all will be OK. I assume you see the IOP psychiatrist a lot. If you notice any major changes let the doc know.

Are you more concerned with depression or mania (or mixed)? If mania, maybe your Risperdal can be upped or a different antipsychotic added? I obviously don't know your IOP doctor's strategy or how you'll react, but I know that for some people lowering or eliminating antidepressants can help stabilize. Not just mania, but even other states. I've even read one article about a study suggesting they can worsen depression in some people, especially those with rapid cycling.

Is your current cocktail working? If not why change all three at once. I hate new doctors.

I'm afraid more of depression. I was doing bad on the previous medications. But I did good on risperdal in the past so that's why he switched me again. So I'm feeling a little euphoric but slept well because of the lunesta. So maybe I should be more afraid of mania?

That’s a lot of meds to taper quickly considering it takes time for meds to get in your system and work, it takes time for them to leave due to half-life and also your brain to function with out them.

I hope you manage this well.
