It's very hurtful to hear my father tell me I'm unstable. I know I am suffering from a mental illness but to hear it from family really hurts. I get no support or love from my family.

That does suck. I've only heard that I was stable twice, from pdocs.

"unstable", when a pdoc says it, is just a symptom statement, but when your father says it, it is very judgmental. I can easily see how you would find it very, very hurtful. Try emailing or messaging him with "Your telling me that I am unstable, regardless of whether this is factually true, was judgmental and unappreciative of me".

My mother used to get mad at me and tell me I have problems and I need professional help. It’s very hurtful. You know when something is being said out of kindness and concern versus spite.

If it happens again, text her back with "and you are nothing but a polite, courteous, graceful, kind sister"

You already feel alone and that kind of treatment from your family will only reinforce that notion in your head. But please believe that you are still worthy of being loved and always be strong no matter what the circumstances may be. If you feel that they are toxic in your life, then you really have to find a way to move away and be on your own than constantly subjecting yourself to that unkind treatment from your family. Much love to you. |

I've realized I need to cut them out of my life. They are toxic and like a cancer to me. Being around them makes my life worse. I need to find people that will love me for the kind and caring person that I am. |

Well said, tmg4me! Life is too short to allow toxic people in it. Try to surround yourself of people like you - and by that I mean kind, compassionate people. Remember that we're here for you. We all love you here. Sending many hugs to you

I am very sorry your family treats you without compassion.
It can be very difficult to give up on family because we so hope for their love, acceptance and support. It is okay to give yourself permission to start building a "family" around you. This would involve people of your choosing. This doesn't mean you must reject your blood relatives. This "chosen family" you build/grow around you is more like an adopted family and is available to love you, to accept you, to understand you and to support you. I hope you feel loved and supported here. WC __________________ May we each fully claim the courage to live from our hearts, to allow Love, Faith and Hope to enLighten our paths. |

I am looking for the love and acceptance that we all need to survive in life. I don't have it with my family so I need to find them in my life. I feel more accepted here by people who don't know me than I do my own family. |

I had to disown my parents. I actually feel better doing it. I can't be around people that are negative and brings me down. I dont need anything to help with that. I hate lairs and hateful people that purposely tries to trigger me.
It was hard at first but it's nice not having to worry about seeing all the family and being fake. Seriously people in general are fake anyway so why do we all gather around when no one likes each other? Because it's the norm? Also how many people do you know that went from being a hateful person to a wonderful nice person? People can improve and better themselves but most are still the same. It takes a lot of dedication and them wanting to change for themselves. After years of giving them chances to be decent people it was overdue to end the relationships with them. I hope your situation gets better. |
