So my pdoc and I have agreed that the Remeron i have been on for about ten months or so hasnt been doing much, if anything, so i'm tapering off of it.
Its my first time coming off an AD.
Not sure what to expect on this one as its not a commonly prescribed AD from what i can tell.
I'm guessing i will have some sleep disturbance at least, as Rem has always knocked me out at night.
I will still be on 1200mg Lithium and 45mg Wellbutrin, occasional ativan, and when weened of the Remeron try some other AD, maybe Lexapro
Anyone else ever taper off of Remeron?

I have never experienced this, jaysmotogp, so unfortunately I don't have a lot of advice to give to you. I wouldn't worry too much about it, though. Your Pdoc is there to help you after all. Just listen to what he has to say and follow his advice. If any problems show up, contact him as soon as you can. As long as you have him checking on you, I wouldn't worry too much about it. Just be careful. Tapering off meds is an important step to take. I hope things will get better soon for you. Remember that we're here for you if you need it. Feel free to PM me anytime. Let me know if I can do something to help you. Wish you good luck! Let us know how it goes. Sending many hugs to you

There are so many factors involved it's hard to say how you will be effected.

I went cold turkey off risperdal, xanax, tegretol and topomax. I stopped sleeping regular. Amix of insomina and REMless restlessness. Overall restlessness while awake. The feeling of ants crawling under my skin. And a feeling like I wanted to chew the paint off the walls. I wouldn't recommend it. Always taper. That said:

I tapered off morphine. Every adjustment was met with sleep issues and stomach issues. These lasted 2-4 days and then I was fine until the next drop.

I think sleep is effected the most with most drugs. You mess up that cocktail and sleep is the primary victim.

Ultimately you won't know until you do it. Then it's just a matter of a few days until you adjust yourself to the new mix, or was for me with morphine. So when you taper, think short term.

Well four days in and so far nothing, no effects bad or good. Dosage reduced to 3/4 of what it was at before. If i had to say, i think i actually feel better than before, placebo maybe.
Of course pretty early on i know but still surprised i feel do difference at all.
Another few days and i'l go to 1/2
I'll update regularly, just so maybe the info might help someone else one day.

I'm really happy for you, jaysmotogp! Take all the time you need. Just take it one step at the time. Take baby steps. Hopefully you'll feel better gradually. If there are any problems, I'd suggest to talk to your Pdoc about this and see how it goes from there. Hopefully he/she will be able to help you. He/she's there to help you after all. Don't be afraid to ask for help. Although it seems like you're doing great on your own. Good for you! Be proud of yourself for that. I'm sure you'll get through this. Remember that we're here for you if you need it. Feel free to PM me anytime. Let me know if I can do something to help you. Wish you good luck! Let us know how it goes. Sending many hugs to you
