My pdoc took me off Seroquel April 29th, then I tried Abilify for a month. Abilify had bad side effects. Yesterday he prescribed Risperdal. Seroquel made me into a zombie. I didn't care about anything, not even Christmas day. I was stable, but dead inside. My question is if anyone has experience with Risperdal? Does it make you feel dead inside like Seroquel? I hope not, but I guess I'll find out. I also take Lamictal, Buspar, and Klonopin. And a statin, 2 high blood pressure meds, and 2 asthma inhalers. That's 12 pills a day, plus inhalers. No wonder I get side effects. Hope this makes sense. Abilify fried my brain for about a week when I increased it to 10 mg. I didn't even know what month it was. It's coming back now, thankfully.

Risperdal was effective for me and not that sedating. It wasn't weight friendly for me, but there are many less so. I would have likely stayed on it longer if it didn't elevate my prolactin levels so much. This is a somewhat common side effect of Risperdal. It's not such an issue for males. Frankly, I've encountered a few meds over the years that if I was a psychiatrist, I'd prescribe more to males than females.

I took it for a while. It helped me stabilize after a severe psychotic episode. It made me sleepy, but I didn't feel like a zombie. I was still able to feel things and function mostly normally. It caused lactation, messed with my cycles and caused a bit of weight gain. My pdoc moved me to Geodon as a result.

It caused horrible suicidal depression and mixed state and made me prediabetic. I am off of it and my fasting glucose returned to normal.

I was on it for a year. It worked great. I did gain some weight but I do on most meds anyway. I had to go off it because I had swelling in my feet and water pills didn’t work. Once I was off my feet returned to normal. Sucks because I felt good on it.

Tiredness is just what I need at night time. Seroquel put me right to sleep but I hate the deadening effect, so I switched. On Abilify I'm sleeping about 4 hours. Not good.
