Got discharged from ip after twenty days there yesterday. Had 7 ect treatments and my depression is a bit better but not completely gone. I did make myself go to church today. It was nice. Feeling sad and worn down but no longer suicidal

I hope you find ECT as helpful as I have. It has kept me essentially stable for four years now.

I’m
Hoping it’s doing the trick. I do feel a little better and I’m very happy the psychosis is gone. I was having command hallucinations from satan telling me to hurt myself. I did it a lot. In fact some wounds got infected and I had to take an antibiotic while ip. They’re finally almost healed now.

I’m
Supposed to go back to work
Tomorrow and I don’t feel I can. I’m still
Highly depressed and crying all the time.

The psychosis is gone thankfully. The depression not so much.

It doesn't sound like you are ready to go back to work so it's good you are reaching out to extend your time off. I tend to get very depressed after psychotic episodes.

I need help. A coworker in charge right now said to call her at 8pm with a pros and cons list of returning to work. I need help making a convincing list to help me get more time
Off. I’m afraid if I go back to work tomorrow I’ll just cry all day.

Well that would be number 1 on your list. If you go back too soon that could set you back, and make your absence from work longer.

I’m also wondering something. I had gone to a mental health urgent care days before the hospital. They put me on rexulti for depression and when I got to ip the dr tookn
Me off of it. He just increased my haldol
For the psychosis. That worked for that but nothing is helping the deep darkness. I was there 20
Days and they wanted to discharge me
Because of course the psychosis was better. What should
I do about this depression? The same
Dr in ip is my outpatient pdoc. Should I make an appointment with him? The ect obviously didn’t do the trick. I don’t want more of it. It makes me
Too forgetful.

You have a psychiatrist that followed your treatment through inpatient. It doesn't make any sense to go see someone who doesn't know you or your history. Your psychiatrist may have a very good reason for not putting you on an antidepressant during ECT. I suggest you call him and ask. As far as work is concerned, how much time have your missed? How much leave are you allowed? Do you have an FMLA? If not you should probably get one if you meet work eligibility. It will save your job. At your next psychiatry appointment talk to him about approving an FMLA for you. Have the paper with you. He can do it between sessions. It's a short document. HR will have to read it...FYI.
Thanks for this!

The reason I went to mental
Health urgent care was my t told me to. He was trying to keep me from ending up in the hospital which I did anyway

Make an appointment with your pdoc. Rexulti is an antipsychotic. It is sometimes used together with antidepressants for depression to make them more effective. Maybe he can also help with delaying your return to work.

Call your psychiatrist and ask him why you aren't on an antidepressant. I'm sure he has a good reason. He knows you. He's treated you. You've said you like him. I assume you trust his clinical judgement. ECT is a complex treatment.

It's unfortunate you are ineligible for an FMLA. Mine saved my job. I had rapid cycling (an episode of mania with psychosis) every 8-10 weeks for 2 years. I was repeatedly hospitalized sometimes for as long as 8 weeks. Every year my psychiatrist would renew it. I was able to get intensive treatment and stay employed. A lot of people don't know FMLAs are available for people who have worked a year and are full time employed with serious illnesses. It's a real blessing.

If a psychiatrist takes you off a drug. You first have to find out why before you ask another physician to put you back on it.

My pdoc isn’t the ip pdoc who does my ect tx. It I do trust them both.

I talked to my boss and told her plain honest truth and she told me not to work this week. She said just go see my t and talk to her after which is Thursday.
