Tomorrow will be 8 years since I found this place ...totally . by . accident.

I remember my first day here. I was a total hot mess, didn’t understand the lingo and abbreviations, often it felt like it was a completely foreign language. But everyone helped me learn.

The group of people I met over a few days literally changed and saved my life. I finally found people that were dealing with the same battle I was up against. I was offered huge amounts of support and advice.

Although I kept saying “ but I have nothing to offer why are you all so eager to help me?????

I learned a motto that was very present back then ... “ Take what you need and give what you can”

People have come and gone and some find there way back again over the years.

Here’s to another 8 !

That’s awesome! I too have been here a long time. Six years, I believe. My story is similar to yours. I was undiagnosed and I was confused by what was happening to me. I remembered what a pdoc had told me many years before - “you have bipolar”. So I went searching for info and found PC.

Everyone here helped me so much with coming to terms with my Illness, and going through hospitalization after hospitalization and med change after med change. They stuck with me when I was ditching meds left and right, abusing meds, etcetera. And when my husband died unexpectedly, I went here for comfort.

This place has become my sanctuary and I will forever be grateful that I found it.

And you, Christina, have always been a great friend to me and I’m glad to call you my friend

I've been on PC for 6 years now, it's been great! I mainly hang out on the Schizophrenia forum and have made many wonderful friends Not sure how I found it, I think at the time I was 18 and searching for a support forum since I had a major breakdown then and wasn't sure what was happening at the time and was scared

I think that’s how we all stumbled onto this place, our lives exploded and were grasping for anything to help us make sense of it all.

Ha! You came a month after me! Every time Anthony Weiner is mentioned on the news, i still freeze! But not as badly as before. His story broke around that time, and mine was KINDA related.

PC helped me thru a very bad time, and i could not have IMAGINED the good i would have gained from it. Even just my writing has improved (in my mind, anyway!). I can now write a simple declarative sentence. See?!

I haven't been here on PC very long. I'm still sort of a newbie. but I love connecting with others who go thru what I go thru and everyone has been so helpful and compassionate. I really love PC and everyone who shares. Congrats on your 8 years. Keep going!

I'm glad you are here, Christina! You, along with everyone else, make PC a lovely place to visit.

I don't remember how long I've been around here. I joined over five years ago, but was not active here the whole time. I was active elsewhere, but those forums petered out. I'm happy to be an active member here now.

Great thread!

I have been here a couple of years now.
My friend, Bizi, had told me about this site. Hi Bizi!

I had first been a very long time member of the "sister site", "NeuroTalk" and had some very good friends there, too. I think I have over 15 years there.

So Bizi had mentioned this site. I came here and was unsure if I would fit in or not. Many of the people most outwardly active on this forum then are quiet right now. They were a humorous group, with BIG hearts! I'd felt at home.

I have thoroughly enjoyed my time here. I have been a member of many sites over the years and so many have so much negativity going on. I have also been a moderator and co-admin of sites; however, have resigned because I had felt the particular sites were unhealthy and , likely, beyond "repair," most unfortunately.

I have learned so much here and have been so well- supported in times of need. This site and my friends here have made a drastic positive difference in my life!

I have had to take a break now and then; yet, I find I do much better if/when I participate here. I actually find participating uplifting and very relaxing!!!
I miss everyone when I take a break!!!

I was happy to help when DocJohn had asked me about participating as a "Community Liaison." I have not done the title justice, however. I have gone through several major crises since then and have not been able to participate at the level I was once participating. I hope to be available more in the near future.

~Christina!!! I love you and appreciate you...far beyond words!!!
I hope I can be even just 1/10 of the friend you have been to me!!!
Thanks so much for reaching out to me as a newbie and ever since!

I LOVE PC and Friends!!!

I joined this place after another site that I had been a long-time member of stopped. It's still up, but no one goes there anymore, so it's kind of me talking to myself. One of the members of that site mentioned this one. I'm glad to be somewhere so active, and I especially like chat.

I notice most of you don't come on chat. Why is that?

I try very hard to first respond to posts. I do not know why, I am just drawn to them first. I feel that they are not only helpful to members, but MANY people see them as they read without joining.

At the same time, I acknowledge the importance of chat. I hope to have enough time here to get into chat often.

It is nice to have you around!!!

Hi Christina! So glad you are here! I smile when I see your posts.

You’ve been here much longer then I. I signed up in 2015 and quickly decided the site would be of no value. Boy, was I wrong! I took another crack at it in 2017 I believe and found kindred spirits.

I appreciate your advice and your kind comments. Here’s to another 8!

Hi downandloney. I think that for those that like chat rooms, it's great that PC has one. When I have visited chat rooms, I found them overwhelming. For me, it's like trying to hit 10 oncoming fast-moving balls with one racket. Also, sometimes there are side conversations going on and one can feel left out. It's just not my preferred venue for (and style of) communication.

Wild Coyote, being a forum facilitator/moderator is a special volunteer job and an often thankless and sometimes stressful one. Thank you for volunteering to do that. I was a facilitator/moderator for a once popular bipolar forum. I know that my fellow facilitators and I sometimes felt we couldn't seek support in our roles, but that wasn't true. I assume PC moderation is peer-led. Or am I wrong? The website forum I was a facilitator for was, similar to DBSA in-person groups.

Glad you found PC

Here’s a true fact .. I live in the middle of nowhere and can only get satellite internet and there’s a DATA LIMIT ... I know OMG!!! So the chat room just won’t work for me lol
