I was wondering if anyone has had to deal with taking Seroquel and developing Edema in the legs and feet? I had to come off it and now I'm looking for a replacement that hopefully wont lead to that again.

Any suggestions or medications you take along with a AP to keep the edema away? thanks

I take both types of Seroquel (extended release and immediate release) and I’ve not experienced edema. This year I’ve been put a second AP (Saphris) and still no edema. Maybe it’s dose related for you ? Also make sure you drink heaps. Drinking lots will help reduce any edema.

I've never experienced edema from any med, including regular and extended release Seroquel, and have taken doses up to 800 mg per day. I've taken at least 500 mg Seroquel XR for at least six years now.

I don't know what medication would ease edema. Have you seen a GP about that?

I've taken a number of moodstabilizers and antipsychotics over the years. Some were a little more side effect friendly than others. Your doctor will surely have some suggestions for you. Some I've taken were a bit more helpful for mania than depression, and vice versa.

My gut tells me you might want to steer clear of Lithium if you're prone to edema, but I may be totally wrong about that. I only write that because Lithium is the only bipolar med I've really read causes edema in a notable number of people.
Thanks for this!

I was on 200mg which makes me kinda sad it happened at such a low dose. I think for sure though I don't drink enough water. How much water do you usually drink throughout the day? I had been looking into a Diuretic medication to help but not sure if that's something safe to take everyday

I haven't seen my doctor since I moved but hoping to find one soon. All I could read up on was a Diuretic medication but just not sure if it's safe to take everyday or if that's the way to go. Thanks for the heads up on the Lithium. I have yet to try that one.
