I saw my liver dr fir a check up. We have to do another fibroscan and ultrasound - today! My liver has gotten to fibrosis- worse than just a fatty liver. Im going on a special diet and exercise program here at the hospital. Ive got 2 hours until my first appointment (second really!) At 12:30. This dr said i am RIGHT!! Psych meds did give me metabolic syndrome which caused me to gain weight which didnt help the fatty liver "fibrosis". He's still searching for another reason WHY i got this but he was very matter of fact about psych meds will start the snowball rolling!

Lots of doctors prescribe meds without monitoring the body for potential side effects, especially side effects like high cholesterol, high blood pressure, liver issues, etc. that slowly sneak up on you.

I hope you're able to pinpoint what the cause is.

I'm pretty sure psych meds did this. Theyre looking for other reasons but the dr mentioned them. He also doesnt think going off them is a good idea "because you already had a manic episode this year". I just want to be well. Im going to have to have a serious talk with both my primary AND my pdoc!

Were you ever on zyprexa? That med can definitely do it, as can seroquel. I think they would be most likely the culprit. Seroquel gave me health problems (high cholesterol) when I was on it. It is the destroyer of bodies. And it looks like pookyl here got toxicity from seroquel.

Yes I went from zyprexa to seroquel. I was on zyprexa for ****ing YEARS- "emergency med" my ***!That's it! i found info online back in may that shows a link between zyprexa and liver damage. I wouldnt be surprised if seroquel does it too. The dr. today said "they all do". Goodbye psych meds! Im dying slowly- and I have proof!!

I just had an ultrasound of my liver and then a scan of my liver. I'll know the results in two days so Friday.

Sending good thoughts your way Moose. I know you did a lot of research a while back and this seems to confirm what you suspected was going on. I'm so sorry you're going through this. I hope there's a way to reverse the damage caused by the meds. Hugs.

I'm sorry to read about your liver troubles, Moose. At least there is a preliminary action plan.

It is a shame that physical health issues sometimes come from treating psych ones. I have mild kidney damage from past Lithium use. I will say that following my doctor's orders on how to prevent further damage has helped.

That is scary, @Moose72! I'm so sorry that you're going through THAT! Stay strong. Definitely consult your Doctors before making ANY decisions. Unfortunately Doctors don't really take side effects into consideration as much as they should in my opinion. True, you need to work on your mental health, but what's the point if you damage your PHYSICAL health in the process? At the very least, though, you know that, and I'm REALLY HAPPY to hear that you're working with your Doctors to find ALL the Causes! After that you'll be able to work on HOW to solve these issues you're having, hopefully! Let us know the results on Friday if you want to! Wishing you the BEST of luck with your health! I have a fatty liver from psych meds also.

I won’t even rant about psych meds and how they certainly may help dealing with MI but then physically wreck organs. I could go on for days!!

I hope this plan will work and get your liver healthier

I have an inspection of our apartment Friday so that's what will keep my mind going on other things.
