I'm going from 2 mgs to 1 mg Thursday and I'm really worried I will get really bad anxiety. My psych nurse is going on vacation and I'm worried her replacement won't help me out if I have problems.

I'm just sooo worried! Just needing support.

That's a big jump down. How long have you been taking it? Coming off any benzo can be really tough. Can your psych nurse explain this situation to his/her cover so your dose can be adjusted if needed? I wish you the best.

Hi rose. Good luck getting off the Valium. Remember that you can always slow the taper, if needed. I had to with Ativan. No need to suffer. I know that getting to 0 mg is greatly desired, but patience is sometimes needed. My psychiatrist had me splitting pills in quarters for a while. I can't imagine your prescriber would object to you slowing the tapering off process a bit, unless there is a major reason you need to get to 0 mg immediately.

Oh no she's adamant I go down at this pace. I have no choice. I have to go down this way. I started at 20 mgs of bc according to her 20 mgs of diazepam equals 2 mgs of lorazapam. So here I am. I'm just hoping if I have trouble I can get gabapentin for the anxiety. I'm worried whoever is her replacement won't want to prescribe anything. I'm so scared...

I've been coming off it for about 7 months. Started out on 2 mgs of lorazapam. She then switched me to diazepam bc it's easier to come off of she says. I was on lorazapam for 8 yrs. She's taking all her clients off benzos.

Well my psych nurse is not letting her replacement give me trazadone or gabapentin if I struggle with anxiety or insomnia when she's gone. She's leaving Monday and will be gone for 2 weeks. I'm sol. I do have extra Zyprexa and gabapentin here if I need it. But I want trazadone increased not Zyprexa. It's ridiculous. She says she's worried about the sleep apnea. It's a long story...

I started the taper last night. I took extra Zyprexa to sleep. So far it hasn't been THAT bad. We'll see how it goes from here on out though as diazepam has a long half life.

Best of luck with the little jump off the benzo. I'm glad you haven't suffered too badly during the process, rose!

Thank you BirdDancer! It's a big jump though actually it's from 2 mgs to one, so 50% cut. I'm hoping it won't be too hard...

Thanks for the support!

Well last night was day 2 of taper. So far, so good. I'm not really feeling any different. I think going to benzo buddies scared me. So many people on there have had such difficult tapers. Idk...

It's probably like reviews. People who have a complaint are far more likely to write about it than those who had a good experience (or, yanno, an OK experience). I'm so glad it is going well for you!!

Yeah, I think you're right. I think if it's easier for you to come off of, you don't go to sites like benzo buddies. My psych nurse is the one that told me about it tho.

So far so good tho.

Thanks so much for your support!
