Psychiatrist: 17 years (or 16 since I stopped seeing the first for one year)*

Therapist: Ditto as above*

* I saw my very first psychiatrist at college about 27 years ago, but only one visit. Then I saw a hospital psychiatrist one visit when living in Taiwan about 24 years ago. Between these and the above, I did go to my GP a few times for mental health issues, until he referred me to the psychiatrist I went to, a bit longer term, 17 years ago. My actual first therapist was a two or three visit deal over 33 years ago, when I was 15 years old. My school made my parents take me to one after an incident at school. That was the year of my first major bipolar episodes.

I think I started seeing a psychiatrist in 1999 I`m not sure I could be wrong. Therapy has been on and off for a few years. I recently started therapy again this year. My psychiatrist thought it would be beneficial for me. I resisted for a long time but I finally gave in.
