For example, do you crave sugar? Are you hungry all the time? Do you have no hunger? Are your hunger levels normal?

For awhile my hunger was out of control, it was constant physical hunger. it seems to be getting back to normal though. I crave a lot of sugar/sweets, part of it is just me because I have a major sweet tooth but I'm sure some of it is meds. I just ignore the cravings as best as I can by distraction, drinking lots of water, decaf coffee, and eating healthy.

I have a sweet tooth, too. Especially starchy sweets. I always have my entire life.
My appetite is bigger than other times in my life, but I think being home most all day plays a part. If I was back in the office (in the rat race) I would likely think of food less often. Perhaps my Seroquel XR sometimes increases my hunger, but other times (at doses of 500 mg or below) it seems weight neutral. Weight gain from medications had been a problem in the past on a different mix, but hasn't so much these past 8 years. That's not to say I haven't gained weight, but perhaps not much more than I would have even without medications. People in my family gain weight in middle age. That's the way it is. I've actually been about the trimmest of us all. I stress eat sometimes. I must consider these factors, too, when explaining my weight gain. On the least weight friendly medication mix I took 9 years ago, I had been depressed for much of a year. When I am depressed with low energy, I eat more, especially carbs. Hunger is a factor, but also is the desire for an energy boost. Sugars give that a little, but then I crash again. A bad form of self medication. I can develop better eating habits with practice. I can slowly get more into exercise. It's not easy, but these are issues most people deal with. Last edited by Anonymous46341; Oct 13, 2019 at 09:11 AM. |

Seroquil, Zyprexa, Risperadal, Remeron, Fanapt etc etc
Well lets just say other than Lamictal , lithium , Haldol and Invega maybe another ??? Im forgetting ... gawd knows theres been so many. I wanted to eat carbs and cake frosting out of the tub while eyeballing my sofa to see if it might taste good Big Pharma likes to cause more health problems from weight gain so they can sell more pills to fix what one thing causes another.

Seroquel doesnt make me hungry per se but it blocks the Im full. Stop eating switch. I never feel full no matter how much I eat.

Seroquel, Abiify both caused intense hunger 24/7 for me.
I have some physical limitations which make it more difficult to keep active.. However, I do know i should take a more proactive stance whenever I start certain meds. Love to All! ![]()

This is a huge issue for me. I attribute it to my lithium. I crave carbs. All kinds, but specifically, sweets, most often. Especially baked goods and ice cream. It's constantly there, gnawing at me. Like this morning. I was at our Safeway when it opened at 6 AM (so I don't have to deal with too many people) to get groceries. Bought a bunch of healthy stuff. I'm standing in the line to check out and suddenly, I had the thought: 'You know, you haven't been to the Pearl Bakery in forever. It's six blocks away. Let's go!'
And I did. And I came home with some items. It felt like a relapse from the bad old days, I must say. I don't really have weight gain issues, I think because I get so very much aerobic exercise every day. Because I should have a problem with the way I sometimes eat. I wish it weren't true, but for now, this is the way it is. I have no idea how to combat this, but it really does remind me of long-ago drug addictions. It's weird.
