Well im home from vacation thank god!
Anyway- My cousin brought something up on our flight. Two or three people have noticed I move my mouth a lot when I’m not talking or anything. She asked if I do it on purpose. I don’t suppose I do because sometimes I don’t realize I’m doing it and sometimes I feel myself doing it but it’s like I can’t stop. !!????!!!

not trying to play doctor here, but high doses of natural form vitamin E (I now take the kind with "mixed tocopherols"--the hippies tell me its better) plus lots of vitamin C got rid of my drug-induced facial tics, even though I need an 'atypical.' true story.

It's the Haldol. Sometimes the effect is permanent. Talk to your psychiatrist. It's called TD.

oh, and...take vitamin E with --fatty meals-- , please (sorry for -- -- ; it needs fat for absorption, and also so you don't get stomach irritation). I take vitamin c 4x daily (weirdo, I know), but time-release can do a good job, too. :-)

My psychiatrist actually checks for physical symptoms such as this around once a year or so. You should definitely talk to your pdoc. It is sounding like tardive dyskinesis. I got abnormal arm/hand jerking from Saphris years ago (I'd been on it a while, then they physical symptoms appeared very slowly). It went away eventually after she switched me to something else, but my pdoc had warned me it may not.

maybe a switch to an atypical? no guarantees, but when TD develops on something like Haldol, one popular maneuver (it seems) is to switch to an atypical. Seroquel and clozapine are low potency atypicals that are both supposed to carry much lower risks. antipsychotics both cause TD and can also suppress the movements, at least for a little while, so if you need an antipsychotic, maybe something new(er) could get the job done and get rid of the tics, for a while?

I would still talk to the pdoc about it. But I hope it is from anxiety and not td.

You have a tendency to diagnose yourself. Talk to your psychiatrist. Let him make the decision. TD is nothing to mess with. It can be permanent and disabling. It's a serious risk of Haldol.

Im not diagnosing anything. I’m merely stating it could be anxious energy. I’m anxious all the time lately as he is well aware of. I’m a naturally anxious individual and i
Used to rock when I was feeling particularly anxious or self harm. This could be merely be that. And I’ve noticed when I’m doing to the last few days I can stop myself. Of course I will be talking to my pdoc but there’s not much you can do on a holiday weekend
