My dad claims he can see the mania/psychosis in my eyes. Is this ******** or are there actual changes to how your eyes look when you're manic?

I think that's just a figure of speech. For example, "I could see the fire burning in his eyes," in response to seeing someone angry at something.
I do start to shake when my mood is elevated, though, so I do have visual symptoms. But eyes? No. I don't think you can really tell unless someone has shifty eyes because they're paranoid or bloodshot eyes from staying up for so long. |

Apparently my eyes change when I'm manic (sparkle and change colour) I don't see it though but certain professionals do. Saying that I've managed to trick everyone that I'm still on my meds despite not being on them in 2 months. Even tricked a fellow sufferer who is a professional in my mental health team. Bless her she did ask as I was scoring higher on a worksheet than I had in November. But I bluffed and said yes. I am questioning my diagnosis because of this

My husband said my eyes changed when I was in psychosis. He said they looked crazy and evil and it 'wasn't me'.
This woman has studied her eyes during various manic states and reports the sparkle you mentioned. She's a well known bipolar author and has a lot of experience. 3 Clues to Recognize Bipolar Disorder Mania in the Eyes | Psychology Today |

Julie Fast also wrote an article about mania being visible in the eyes. You can read it here: https://www.bphope.com/the-eyes-have...-to-see-mania/
I don't know if mine are remarkably different in colour, but more of the whites show when I'm hypomanic.

This is something I had also read about in a few places, in the past. My husband also says he can sometimes see mania in my eyes. I first read about it in Wikipedia's entry on mania. It includes the line:
"Other, often less obvious elements of mania include... the eyes of such patients may both look and seem abnormally "wide open", rarely blinking, and may contribute to some clinicians’ erroneous belief that these patients are under the influence of a stimulant drug..." |

My eyes sparkle and my pupils enlarge when I'm manic. My late husband could always see it coming before I did.

Bp Hope described an interesting study in an online article sent just today about how they are looking more at the eyes (even using retinal scans) to identify manic states. If interested, see:
