Well, I figured that since I was on 1800mg. of Gabapentin less than 2 months ago, for many months, I'd add in 300mg this morning. I'm taking a total of 1200mg now. So far, so good! My stomach feels much, much calmer. No body aches. No fatigue.

At 1200 mg Gabapentin. So far, so good. My stomach is a bit sore inside, but it's been through a lot. Nothing major, though.

I will see my new GP (another Dr. B.) next week. Please, please, let him be a good one.

Thank you so much, bizi. You are always a reliable friend. I'm glad your reunion went well - sorry your boot broke! Am I imagining things, or did you tell me your sister is your twin?

A riverboat cruise sounds perfect! Yep, I'll turn 60 Dec. 28th. Too bad we don't live close to each other because we could celebrate our 60th together MAJOR New Year's Ever party!

My stomach still feels I don't know. Sore and sensitive inside. I'm off any SSRI for the first time in decades. SSRI's always kept IBS symptoms away. So now the IBS I've had from childhood has probably reappeared.

Oh beth no.......i have a friend who gets horrible stomach aches from IBS.
I am so sorry that you have this. maybe it would be worth going back on the ssri to help with the ibs.
I really feel for you.

Thank you so much, @bizi. I think I'm done with the SSRI's. They gave me a life for decades, but just haven't done much in my 50's. I think there are meds now to treat IBS that may have fewer side-effects. Then, too, I can just live with it, be careful of what I eat (no friend foods). Every woman in my family as far back as I know had/has IBS. My daughter has it terribly and now even my son has developed it in his 30's.

You are so kind.

Meds:
200mg Lamictal
1200mg Gabapentin
25mg Seroquel for sleep
1mg/twice a day Klonopin

The least amount of medication I've been on in many, many years and I feel much better. In addition, when I stopped the SSRI my blood pressure decreased way down into a very good range. What a difference!

I am meeting my new GP soon and requesting a referral to a doctor at the clinic who specializes in helping people to get off of certain medications (such as Klonopin and, possibly for me, Gabapentin.) He also works with chronic pain issues. My goal is to eventually (as far as psych meds) take only Lamictal. (Perhaps I can even decrease the amount of Lamictal soon.) Coming off Klonopin may take a year - or even two. But the time for me to be free of it is long overdue.

As for Seroquel, I find that there are OTC sleep meds that work as well as the low-dose Seroqeul does - at least, nearly as well. I would like to use those OTC's with Seroquel as an occasional back-up if I have a night that requires a solid, long sleep ( an event the next day).

Glad you have cut back on your meds and are doing better. I'm down to to anti-depressants and one med for sleep.

I take Cymbalta, which is an SNRI. I find they work better for me than SSRIs. I also take Wellbutrin, which works on dopamine and neurepinephrine.

Oh, yes...I've taken Cymbalta a couple of times in the past. Wellbutrin is so helpful for many, many people. I did take it for about a year, last year. I think if I ever need another AD I would go with Wellbutrin.

Yeah, it has been great for me, but I find I also need something that works on serotonin.

I have definitely needed that in the past, for many, many years. And it worked, it helped. I now wonder if my receptors have built up such a tolerance that they no longer respond.
