For the past few nights I've been getting about 1-4 hours of sleep. I wake up at 3 or 4 in the morning and am up for the day. I don't really miss the sleep, I don't feel all that tired. I'm not the slightest bit manic, though. I just don't feel the need to sleep as much. I'm not overdoing it with the caffeine either.

I've been taking my double trazodone too and it's not putting me out. Sleep feels hopeless and I know I need it. This is miserable.

Hi 251turnaround,

I agree with you, sleepless night, especially consecutive nights, can feel hopeless and we do need our sleep.
All types of factors might have an impact upon our sleep. I'm up tonight because I am very concerned about a couple of friends.. I'd been dreaming about this and have found the dreams unsettling..I
You might find the thread "The Cool insomnia Club" helpful.. Many there have been sharing about sleeping difficulties and are sometimes sharing strategies.

I hope you'll find whatever you need in order to sleep well.

Trazodone is an antidepressant, though -- specifically, an SSRI. Too much of an antidepressant (especially SSRIs) can trigger or exacerbate mania. I'm not pretending to be a doctor, but I think it is a bad idea to keep taking double your Trazodone dose without talking to your doctor first. There are other options available, from benzos to antipsychotics like seroquel, that can be more effective and less likely to trigger mania. There are also sleep aids like OTC melatonin or even Rx Ambien.

I'm not trying to be an @ss, because I know you're struggling, but you may be making things a lot worse than they need to be and I think it needs to be said.

You'd think that would be the case, but I don't go manic from antidepressants. Maybe some, I don't know. I've been fine with them so far.
