I went up in abilify 4 days ago. But I started having racing/pounding heart? Like it feels like my heart is almost beating out of my chest. I have all my normal side effects like anxiety, nausea, etc. but even when I’m not anxious I feel like my heart rate is fast. Or even when I AM anxious my heart rate feel exceptionally fast! Is this normal? Should I wait it out for a week or so or go ahead and contact my doctor? Also, I went up to 20 mg of abilify which I don’t believe abilify is really working too well for me at other dosages anymore. It kinda “poops” out or stops working. I’ve never had this side effect before though.

You better call your dr. The link below says that you should stop abilify immediately if it causes heart rate increases:

aripiprazole

Thank you so much. I kind of knew I needed to call. But wanted to be double sure. I have a FaceTime appointment (due to virus) with my dr tomorrow. I’ll definitely let her know first thing.

I had also found Abilify to have many uncomfortable side-effects. Anxiety and akasthisia were two major ones.

'I also feel strongly you should call your doctor. The sooner the better. It's not my intention to add to your anxiety. I do feel heart symptoms should be evaluated by a physician familiar with the med(s) and familiar with you.

I hope you find relief.

Can you call today instead?

I am not a dr obviously, but I would not take it today/tonight, especially since apparently it could be a matter of life and death if your heart fails while you're sleeping, but that is just my opinion. (Not trying time scare you, btw. Just making sure you're safe from heart problems.)

With the intensity of the symptoms you report in your first post and the instructions/warnings in the literature, I advise contacting you doctor now ... leaving a detailed message (like your initial post).

Don't mess with your heart/your well-being. You surely do not want to risk suffering a serious complication from meds.
