I wonder if anyone else has experienced this? Basically when they don't listen...
An example they might say someone is ''not depressed'' because they are not crying or sounding extremely unwell. They can't deny my anxiety though (and they have often been mean about it...) ![]() Also with therapists. Some (many here irl) fail to listen properly. So no wonder ''misunderstandings'' occur. ![]() ![]() I have had meds refilled (benzos) and another med that doesn't do anything ![]() ![]()

I had drs miss my psychosis for years. It wasn't until my first hospitalization that that symptom was taken seriously.

Yeah, my first therapist called me a liar and said to stop lying about my symptoms. (She didn't use the word "liar," but she sure as hell insinuated it when she kept telling me to "tell the truth" and "be honest.")

I had to meet with the female in the practice I go to last week. I'm not a big fan of hers. She doesn't listen and she only focuses on the meds. She appears inconvenienced when I ask detailed questions. The male that I see is the polar opposite. He is empathetic. He remembers my story. We talk about my life circumstances. He answers my questions. I always try to see him, but it didn't work out last time.
She begins our conversation with 'so, is the Risperdal and Geodon working for you?' I replied 'well they aren't doing anything because I have been med free since September due to your guidance and that of your colleague. Read my chart and then let's talk.' She looked only slightly embarrassed, read for a moment and then asked me how I was coping with coronavirus. ![]() We talked for maybe 2 additional minutes and then she said I don't need to see them anymore unless I am symptomatic and need meds. I expect them to at least read the chart... ![]() |

I get the 'stay in your lane vibe' from the female. At my last appointment I spoke about the psychoanalysis work I've been doing with the male. We talked for almost an hour about it and Jung and dream symbolism. It was a great chat. He said he'd like to see me go on to become a therapist one day. Ha! I told him I'm working on me and plan to stick with what I know for now. He was intrigued. It gave me hope their profession isn't all about the drugs.
