Hi all. I am desperately trying to stay stable. Anxiety goes hand in hand with my bipolar. It's bad enough we are all living in the middle of the CoVid 19 pandemic and all the unrest in our country, but one of my sons and his wife live in downtown Seattle and my DIL is pregnant. This is a tough time to be having a baby. I pray for their safety from illness and the unrest going on there. It brings me to tears at times. I try not to dwell on it. It's something I can't control and I have to trust them to be wise about their safety. At least their block is not inside the zone but it's not that far awa - it's walking distance. If you don't mind saying a prayer for them that they'd stay healthy and safe I'd appreciate it.

Hey, Journey, Portland guy here. Yeah, similar overall situation down here, though there is no official 'zone'--yet.

This will pass. Hang in there. People just need to express themselves. They are fed up with the abuse and murder and total lack of accountability. I join them in that.

When is the baby due? What does DIL stand for, anyway?

Sending you strength and support.

HI journey,

I do understand your concern. At this time, the word is , and the cameras show, things are mellow now. Cameras have been all through the zone both last night and today. I saw people walking and some dancing. The police station is a mess; yet, beyond that, I think things are okay?

The mayor has been on camera several times in the past 48 ours and she is relaxed and is allowing people to have this zone for awhile, let them work out their feelings, while going to listen to them re: their concerns. There is also at least one officer in plain clothes, spending time with the crowd, hoping to learn more about their perspectives on the whole situation and on what changes might need to be made in everyone's best interest.

The mayor jokes that Seattle might have a "Love-In" at that location all summer long. She is extremely relaxed.

I think this is all great news. (?)

I hope the info I have is good representation of what is truly happening.
It certainly appears to be the case as cameras wander the area.

I hope something about this might help you to relax and to get a good night's sleep.

Much of what goes on lately is quite disconcerting, I agree.
Take care

Sending prayers. While I share Wild Coyote's hope that all will be ok, there is a discomfort that can come with destabilization in any form even if the angle the media takes is of peace and a party. I'm sorry you fear for your child, DIL and grandchild. My heart is with you and I hope this situation resolves itself soon.

Thanks for your support. DIL is daughter-in-law . The baby is due Nov 20th. My son & DIL waked to the site of the protest yesterday. They said it is peaceful and there seems to be several groups there with different agendas. There was only one area that they found disturbing. Also they said there are several people that appear to have mental health issues camped out there. There are people who have been picking up the trash and the area seems to be clean. Thanks for your concern. I hope all stays peaceful in Portland and every where else.

Welp, now you have an excuse to come out here. WA, OR, and British Columbia are quite unique.
