I am cleaning the house and I am motivated to clean out the things from my old job. I am trying not to read a lot of it because and I don’t want to spiral into a low mood or get flashbacks. I hope this is a step towards moving on.

I think sometimes the urge to purge is indicative of an episode and yet it is often necessary to analyse, reflect, and move on. I would think that things from that old job will lack utility and so should get tossed. Well done.

Hi Crook. I have found de cluttering projects quite satisfying and restorative (lowering stress) in the past. It sounds like you have a great plan.
Daonnachd makes a point that they can be signs of oncoming hypo/mania or even trigger some, but they don't have to be. Pacing oneself is a safe strategy. Give yourself breaks. For me, I find focusing on one (or max two) projects works better than trying to do too many different things at the same time. I am away right now (at times stressful in its own right) but also had numerous projects before we left. I also have numerous upon return. I'm doing OK. I had and have a good strategy to keep myself as level as possible. What won't help is for me to become manic. |
