I feel like such an idiot I am so beyond embarrassed

I don't have anyone else to speak to about it. And I hope this makes sense. I'm just venting really to get this off my chest.

So I'm a teacher and about 2 weeks ago a parent that I'm pretty close with, as in professional relationship, asked me who she can email her daughter's scholarship to.

I gave her the email address of the person (it's the assistant principal) and she replied and said she'd bcc me in the email.

So her and I went back and forth after she'd sent it to the assistant principal commenting on the photos and I told her it's a lovely application etc.

Then today she sends me an email out of the blue about her son and his meltdown last night - he's on the spectrum and I don't believe I'm allowed to discuss what he was doing according to PC guidelines.

So I forwarded the email on to the assistance principal (her son is currently at my school) because the assistant principal deals with wellbeing.

UNBEKNOWNST TO ME she'd sent me the email on the SAME THREAD where we were chatting about the scholarship. She had already submitted the scholarship I was just commenting on the pics and telling her how lovely it is.

This would be exactly why I'm unfit for work for the next 2 weeks because I can't pay attention.

I'm mortified truly I want to dig a hole in the ground and bury my head there for the rest of my life

SHE doesn't know I inadvertently forwarded it but now the ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL does.

I didn't breach any guidelines because it was after it had been submitted.

Sorry you are hurting. So, trying to better understand. Did you unintentionally violate a confidence? Will this harm the student in some way?

Ugh, I hate when stuff like that happens. I was once gossiping about our cousin to my sister and what I was saying wasn't nice. So I accidentally sent the email to my cousin instead of to my sister. It was awful. Mortifying. My cousin never mentioned it

I'm not sure what those terms mean (I'm in Australia) but I'm currently on full paid work cover due to a work incident that happened a while back. I'm meant to be going back part time in 10 days.

Im sorry that happened hitch I dont have a similar story but I can certainly relate to making mistakes because of lack of concentration or whatever. Ive been making lots of little mistakes at work. Today I got asked if i was ok to work by one of my healthcare providers and I just stared at him for a bit and then nodded because I can do it just not very well right now. He didnt seem convinced but accepted my answer
