Hi does anyone know if you can be forced into hospital for having delusions and hallucinations? Without being a danger to yourself or others?
I’m in Australia if that makes a difference. |

I was forced into IP 2 years ago by 2 cops. I had mentioned being suicidal online, my cousin called the cops, and they came to my apartment, put me in handcuffs (I kid you not) and drove me to the psych ER. I was angry - but I was not doing anything destructive or in any way acting out. I was just yelling at the jerk who had called the cops (he showed up with the cops). Cops pounced on me and handcuffed me. Talk about insane...
But that's my experience in the U.S. I hope someone who has knowledge of the situation in Australia replies to you.

You can be admitted willingly or unwillingly. Yes, they can make you stay in the hospital. But if you go unwillingly, you have to go before a judge. At that particular time, I didn't want to do that, so I said I'd go willingly.
