Can you have bipolar without euphoria? I have a working diagnosis of bipolar because I was struggling heavily with distractibility, I got temporarily excited by things in my environment without engaging in them, but I wasn’t euphoric? Does that make sense in the context of bipolar do you reckon? 🌸
I also didn’t get mad at people or gave arguments, I just felt frustrated by my lack of focus and talked out loud a lot. |

I tend to get irritable not euphoric. It’s only one of many symptoms in the DSM so who knows! Good question though!

Yes, a person can have what's known as "dysphoric mania." If you google the term, there's all sorts of info on it.

Yes, you can have bipolar without euphoria. BethRags points you to a good source of information. I have bp1 and have spent lots of my life in a manic/euphoric state. Euphoria feels like you can do anything in the world, regardless of whether you have any experience or not. You are on top of the world. I experienced the world in technicolor - everything is physically and emotionally sharper, more focused and ripe for the picking, and you know you can pick whatever you want. You do not listen to others. You know you are right, no matter what the situation. You charge ahead with your plans regardless of others and the reality of the situation you are in. You do not understand that you are in this state, so you cannot understand the havoc you are wreaking upon yourself and others.
I would venture to guess that you are describing hypomania, a milder form of mania, but no less intrusive on your life. |

I described it to a psychiatrist that I saw and it was almost anxiety instead of bipolar 🌈 But I wasn’t worried when I had that high distractibility, I was just very flittery and impulsive in my thinking style, and there were hours during the day where I couldn’t stop talking out loud to myself like my mouth was being driven by a motor

Yes. I am bipolar 1. Have been hospitalized in a manic state but my manic is not euphoria. Extreme irritability, rapid thinking and speech, upsettness anxiety all over the place but not happy!!! Never enjoying things to an extreme.

"Short thoughts" is a really descriptive and accurate way to describe it.
