Pdoc is weaning me off zyprexa in favor of Latuda. I hope it goes well. Im waiting for her to call me as she has to confer with another dr re titration from zyprexa to latuda and we are hoping insurance pays. We are hoping the latuda wont cause more weight gain and that it will have better antidepressant properties than anything else might. What have been your experiences?

Latuda was very expensive so I expected quite a bit from it. It seemed like I was taking nothing. No side effects. Did not feel better or worse when on it. Gave it up after no results.

For me- Latuda was a missing piece. It really helped stabilize my depression symptoms. I take it at night to negate the drowsiness that I get as a side effect. With Latuda- it's also helped me lose a bit of weight- I have to remind myself to eat- it definitely seems to have some type of appetite suppressant qualities.
I hope all goes well with your insurance- it's definitely expensive. I can't wait until a generic form becomes available.

I tried it few years ago .. It didnt do a thing helpful . I just felt "off" trouble finding words felt snowed under. Apparently alot of Doctors say you have to eat when you take like you would with Geodon to help absorb it correctly (altho I was never told that) It is weight neutral for most people so that is a plus.

Its wicked expensive that is for certain.

My son was on Latuda and gained 50 lbs in about 6 months. Really helped with depression though. He just started a weight loss med Qsymia that really seems to be curbing the outrageous appetite he got from Latuda.

On latuda, third week, still losing weight, even with the evening 350 calorie requirement. The only side effect I have is that it makes me fall asleep. If I took it with dinner 6:00, then I was asleep by 7:30. But I only sleep about 4 hours a night, so I was awake by midnight. At Pdoc suggestion I take it with a late dessert so I can go to bed at a more normal time and then take another med to keep me asleep.

Like all psych meds, I think it depends on your body's reaction to it. I just wanted you to know, not everyone gains weight on Latuda.

When I started Latuda it was hard to stay awake after I took it. I didn't have any weight issues with it. It defiantly helped with the depression symptoms. Now I'm used to it and it doesn't make me as tired so I'm able to stay awake longer.

I hope it helps with anxiety. I picked it up along with smaller dose of zyprexa. Weaning schedule included. Gonna take three weeks.

After being on every medication out there...pdoc just started me on latuda as well. Said it just got fda approval for treatment of bipolar depression. I have started out on 20mg for first week, now up to 40mg. He said he has seen suprisingly good results so far woth other patients. The only med i havent tried is seroquel, and i dont want to. I hope this helps us. 3-4 weeks for some minor results. Good luck.

I have been taking Latuda for 7 mos and I think it is helping with my depression along with the Lamotrigine. I have not gained any weight for taking it just binge eating out of boredom probably.

Does anyone notice if it helps with mania?

I just filled my first week in my pill container of weaning off zyprexa and on latuda. Taking first dose tonight.
