Do you believe in the power of gratitude? I do! I try to begin and end each day with a grateful heart and I often work in moments of thanks throughout the day. I find that the more I am thankful, the more I notice all the amazing things I have to be grateful for.

There have been a number of studies that show gratitude has a positive effect on mental health. Here's a quote from a Harvard Health article.

'In positive psychology research, gratitude is strongly and consistently associated with greater happiness. Gratitude helps people feel more positive emotions, relish good experiences, improve their health, deal with adversity, and build strong relationships.'

Giving thanks can make you happier - Harvard Health

I was wondering what you all were thankful for. I am thinking I'll try to post at least one thing a day and together we can make a group gratitude journal.

This morning I am thankful for time. I don't have to carpool or go anywhere this morning. I can drink my coffee slowly and ease into my day. The leaves are finally starting to change and I'm cozy with a blanket just appreciating the colors out my window.

I keep a gratitude journal

What I'm grateful for today is the cool weather and time to relax

I'm grateful that I have been able to bounce out of downswings fairly quickly over the recent years. I'm grateful that each day I have moments or even hours where I can experience joie de vivre.

I might need to post more than once each day!

I have relatively recently started injecting a drug I'd rather not use; However, I have little choice because the condition for which I am taking it causes progessive, irreversible, damage. I live with Psoriatic Arthritis (PsA).

Although I'd prefer to not have PsA, I am grateful to have the companionship of another person we all love. While I wish she'd never had to deal with this same condition, I am grateful to have ~Christina as a friend who fully understands all of the nuances involved in trying to manage this challenge.

And... while I'd rather not inject the drug, I have to admit, my symptoms appear to be improving, for which I am also grateful!

I'm grateful that I am able to control my self not to be very negative or to fight back when I have misunderstanding with my boyfriend.
I'm also grateful that I have managed to no dwell on office dramas.. because I feel like there's nothing to do about it. And it's better to see the positive and be grateful instead!

I’m grateful for so many things in my life even tho I’m stumbling right now.

I can’t explain the amount I have for finding PC years ago when I was so lost , scared and a huge danger to myself. All the people who have helped me learn and grow over the years ? Priceless

Everyone here now , we all bond together to lift each other up even when we are dealing with our own struggles.

I have never met so many kind people in my life.

WC I can’t thank you enough for truly helping me understand PsA, I was reading a lot about it but being able to discuss all the bits of it so relatable is a huge blessing , yes we both take shots we would rather not but we are finding relief.

I want to sit here and thank each one of you personally. Today I think tears would take over. But I will ! Because each of you are an important part of my life.

I don't do gratitude for philosophical reasons, but I acknowledge my good fortune constantly, and try to take joy in the moment.

I am very, very lucky. I won't go into it, but I'm the luckiest man I know.

Today I am grateful for how children find joy in the little things. My son is very excited that today is show and tell day at school. Both of my kids are excited that my Dad is coming over tonight for a sleepover tonight. They find joy everywhere and it reminds me to look at life with a new eye.

I'm grateful for:
my rosary, I was really struggling last night and it helped keep me centered, I'm glad I started praying it again

The leaves changing colors, I saw a stunning red tree earlier on my walk

That a squirrel I saw on my walk didn't get hit crossing the road, I was so scared because it was so close to happening, thankfully he made it across the street just in time

I am grateful for:

* The lovely story that lullaby109 shared in a thread today.

* A lovely article my husband shared about a once homeless Kurdish man in NYC who now owns many pizza shops, and regularly helps the homeless.

* An opportunity I had to share some tough love with a couple people. They took it badly at first, but I think in the end it helped.

* That I managed to get my butt to the grocery store and to clean up the kitchen.

* I'm glad that it is Friday. I want to give my sweet hubby some TLC.

I am grateful that I was able to regain my faith after nearly totally losing it as a result of being horrifically mistreated.

I have a copy of the Everyman's Library edition of Gratitude Poetry. I read a poem of gratitude to my wife every morning.

I also write in my gratitude journal every evening cataloguing points of the day for which I am grateful.
Today I am grateful for my FIL and for a distant cousin I ran into in a coffee shop.

I am grateful for my Dad. He is truly a great man and I am so fortunate to have him in my life. He calls me his rock, but he is also mine. I am still learning from him all the time and he is always open to learning from me and my family. I admire his ability to roll with change in life and create happiness for himself wherever he goes.

I am grateful for the incredible memories of my grandmother! What a lady, what a person, what a spiritual Being! She was also known as a "Steward of the Earth," a natural , self-taught family doctor/nurse for her very rural community. She was a humble leader with tremendous gratitude for the opportunities to serve humanity. She lives in my Heart forever.

I am greatful for the rain.

I have nothing to do today involving outside, so it can rain all it likes

plus: rain is always good for the flowers, and though I don't care about gardening what so ever, it's a good excuse for their to be rain

I am also grateful for the rain today. We have had very little rain for an extended period of time. Everything looks brittle.

I am grateful for quiet mornings. My husband wakes up around 5 every day to work, to care for our children, or to attend to projects around the house. He is constantly on the go and adding value in one way or another. I woke up at 7 and noticed him still sleeping beside me. I quietly closed the door and worked with my kids to find quiet activities to do so that daddy can sleep in. He's still sleeping now This is a very rare occurrence, so we're taking advantage of this quiet rainy morning.

I'm grateful for the energy I have and that I was able to clean my apartment. I'm also grateful for having the motivation to draw and having a nice morning reading a spooky book with some coffee w/ pumpkin spice creamer
