I just wanted to let everyone know that my attention span is so short that it's really hard for me to keep up with threads or respond to those I want to respond to, especially if there are 2 or more pages of responses. My eyes and brain tune out. My dad has come to the conclusion that I will never be able to take care of myself and my mom says the worst thing that anyone could say to someone with bipolar: don't worry, everyone feels like that sometimes. BTW, I'm 54.

I loved the chat but trying to keep up severely taxed my brain! That said, I'll participate when I can.

Anyway, just wanted to let you all know that I do read as I can and care. I love this place.

Thank you wolftrap! I love reading your responses and completely understand. Some of the threads get very long and it’s too much when there are so many pages! I get lost too.

But I thought you did take care of yourself?! Well I used to always think I could take care of myself but since getting BP I’m not so sure. It takes so much more strength and courage that people just don’t get... and ya people who don’t have this have zero clue. I’ve had some people compare their depression to mine and I don’t think it’s the same. Plus it lasts way longer!! And I see them be able to do things I cannot do when depressed.

Hugs to you and it was nice seeing your post!
Thanks for this!

NaoSky, thank you for your post! I do take care of myself with regular income from Disability and help from my folks when I need it (like the recent $2000 dental bill), for which I am eternally grateful. I am self sufficient in all other ways, a huge improvement from the days when folding my laundry was a major undertaking. My folks financial assistance shows where their heart lies, but entrenched perceptions can be difficult to change I guess.
