I have an rx for Chantix. I havent started it yet because I am waiting til after the holidays. My primary and psyche know all the meds I am on for possible interactions butI desperately need to stop smoking. My PCP told me vivid dreams are the #1 thing her patients complain about but that it subsides. In some cases she says they are nightmares and some people cant tolerate that. I am scared. For those it worked for I have been told its a life saver. Nothing as worked. All NRT's, wellbutrin, etc have done nothing to help. I need something to get over the hump of desire in order to to make the habit change. Has anyone had success with this? I am going to cross post this in addictions as well.

No personal experience with Chantix, but my mom took it for a week. It worked and she didn’t like that, turned into a massive ***** but I think that was more so because quitting smoking as opposed to a direct side effect.I dont think she had any real side effects directly from the medication.

Hi sarahsweets. I have never been a smoker, but wanted to wish you all the best in quitting the habit/addiction. I certainly think that if you truly need an aid to help quit, it is worth trying. In the past, I had an issue with alcohol. I was prescribed a couple of medications that were meant to help reduce alcohol cravings. One of the two legitimately helped me.

I hope the Chantix gives you no (or at least very mild) side effects. If you can get past the tough transition, at least you can eventually stop the Chantix. I eventually stopped the alcohol craving medication once I got over the difficult hump.

A previous therapist used to chew on those thin soft plastic coffee stirrers. Maybe borrow your grandson's bippy? I dont think i ever had one, i remember being jealous of my cousins who were only a year or two younger than me and still had theirs. BTW, they both have beautiful teeth now and i have ground the heck out of mine. So seriously i would look into a mouth guard.

My brother in law told me some people on chantik have bad types of lucid nightmares that can almost end up causing paranoia. My brother in law is weird sometimes and I don’t always trust what he says regarding medicine.
