I try to see my pdoc once a month. During the the time between visits, I think about what I want to tell her. I organize it in my mind and repeat it over and over again to not forget it. If I don’t do this, I don’t remember what to talk about and the session is awkward. I’m wondering if this is normal or over the top. It seems a little ocd-ish but maybe it’s not. I’d be too embarrassed to discuss this with her. Does anyone else do this?

Totally normal. At least for me. In such cases I find it quite helpful to create a running list of notes that I either keep in draft form on my cell phone or computer, which I take with me to appointments. I started doing that not only because I'd easily forget some things, but sometimes there would be days/weeks when I would feel one way, but then when my mood would switch, everything started to look different, making me not provide a full picture of how I had been. There would also be times when I would do mood tracking daily, but then as time passed, I would see the past differently. I once wrote about my tendency at Bipolar (or major depressive) episode denial – Wanting to be stable – Bird Flight

I'm not sure of a good app. Maybe the one offered by Moodtracker.com? I confess my method is more old fogyish where I simply create a timeline in a MS Word document type program. Perhaps someone else here would have a good app suggestion.

Sorry if this isn't helpful. In this forest there is literally no such thing as ''your doctor''

Having said this, I wish you good luck and all the best

I’m not sure I understand this. For now, she is my doctor. She is also doctor to a lot of other patients. Obviously she does not belong to me. A lot of people say my doctor.

I only mean that it's almost impossible to talk to the same doctor more than once in this location, and in 5 minutes, well I can't tell them anything of relevance They do not like me though, its my issue. I'm also allergic to all the meds they push (good therapy would help me more but this is not allowed by the Experts)

I think it's an excellent way to prepare for your appointment. In fact, I just had a pdoc appointment and wish I would have been more assertive. If I had written my thoughts down and read them I might have had a more productive appointment than I did. As it was I feel like the appt. was kind-of meaningless. I will take a lesson from you.

Inconsistency may be the problem in your forest. I'm so sorry.

I had my phone call with my doc today. This time I wrote down all sorts of stuff. I got 1 of my requests, but I felt like she brushed off the rest. At least I had my papers to work off of. Mental Health America has a form to fill in to help you gather your thoughts.

I like the idea of writing notes in my phone. I mean, right now the appointments are over a phone call so the notes are right there, if you have your phone 100% did not lose the notes. I can't remember for beans.

Thanks BethRags, this is definitely part of the problem in this forest.
