I posted a similar thread in different forum but wants y'alls opinion too.
I am not in a mood episode. I am stressed some but otherwise right where I should be. However, I am feeling bugs crawling on me. Does anyone else have weird stuff happen even thought theyre not depressed or manic? Its not very often but I hate it! Is it psychosis or can you just have symptoms? I should also say my pdoc changed my dx to schizoaffective bp type instead of bp 1 with psychotic features.

Hi HALLIEBETH. I think many people have experienced that at one time or another. Whether or not it is related to your mental illness, or something else, is up to a doctor to determine. Such a feeling could be part of a temporary parenthesia (see Paresthesia - Wikipedia) which could have various causes. You are aware that bugs aren't crawling on you, right? That kind of awareness seems to ground you in some level of reality. I know that psychosis usually brings with some level of belief, but I know it can waiver and is more complex than that. |

I kind of have times where I am convinced it is bugs but later I can see it was just my brain tricking me. I go back and forth believing what my psyd says strange things. such as: when I had ect they out something in my brain. evvvvveerrryone tells me its not true but i still think they did something. why else would bugs plague me and hearing noises. they want me to go back to inpatient for money. but guess what i dont have money!

Please do try to take your meds as prescribed. i agree with the other wise and wonderful posters about contacting your Pdoc and/or therapist to better understand what may be happening. Please do stay Safe. Sending many safe, warm hugs to BOTH you, @HALLIEBETH87, your Family, your Friends and ALL of your Loved Ones! Keep fighting and keep rocking NO MATTER WHAT HAPPENS, OK?!

Have you looked at the side effects of your medications? It’s possible it could be a side effect of one of the medications.

Could this sensation be medication induced? Did you get this sensation prior to taking the antipsychotic and benzodiazepine? Do you experience the bug sensation on the same body parts such as your hands? If so, it maybe medical. I remember being very drowsy when I was taking antipsychotics and benzodiazepines. It felt like I was in a perpetual state of stage 1 sleep which is known to cause hallucinations even in "normal" people. I clearly remember hearing voices. At the time I thought I was psychotic. Even the psychiatrist thought so. -- Years later I realized it wasn't psychosis, at all when I developed the illness out of nowhere. At the time I wasn't under psychiatric care and taking medication. The hallucinations I experienced were very different. There was a huge difference.

I’ve often wanted to post on here what’s worse, finding actual bugs crawling on you or you just think there’s bugs on you.
I’ve had both things happen to me but I still don’t know which would be better.
