I don’t typically hallucinate but today I was walking down the stairs and I had this sudden vision of this book I read 7 years ago that I had totally forgotten about. Like it flashed quickly in my head but I could also sort of see the cover of the book on the stairs. It was weird.

Does anyone else get strange visual things like this?

I do, frequently. I've never thought of it as hallucinations. What a strange feeling...now I'm wondering if those "things" I experience are memories or hallucinations. Or both.

I had a period in the last few years where people would flash in my mind and then would be standing near me; then they'd disappear just as quickly as they'd appeared.

Maybe not exactly the same thing, but i used to have a LOT of deja vu, esp when with my family (stressed?!), but they lessened after i started taking topamax, which is an anti-epileptic. Cuz deja vu and other vus are said to be "brain misfirings" ie essentially epilepsy?

Yes, flashbacks occur all the time. In some cases they manifest as visual hallucinations like you describe. It is disconcerting, to say the least!
