I received the 1st vaccine on Friday. Saturday, my arm was sore. My mood seemed slightly elevated all weekend but it was nothing to worry about. It felt kind of good. Then Sunday night, flashing lights started right before bedtime and when I went to bed, no sleep came. Last night, I dosed a little but I was in this world between sleep and awake. Tonight my eyes are running. I can tell that I'm tired but my head is noisy and I can't settle down. Has anyone else had a similar reaction to the pfizer vaccine? What did you do?

I looked up side effects of the Pfizer vaccine and I used search terms like “Pfizer vaccine sleep side effects “ and does Pfizer cause weird sleep disturbances “ I didn’t see anything reported about what you’ve experienced. I’m not saying you didn’t have trouble but I don’t think it’s related to the vaccine.

Well, that's not fun. I've wondered about drug interactions (psych meds/vaccine). Honestly, I doubt anyone knows without any doubts about interactions. I'm hoping for the best for those of us on meds.

I just got an appointment for my first vaccine on the 22nd. I don't really care about side-effects, & will try not to dwell on them, lest they become a self-fulfilling prophesy. I just want this social isolation to end!!!
Thanks for this!

It sounds like you've had a very rough few days. How are you feeling today? Did taking your PRN help?

I've not had the vaccine yet, it looks like July for me, so I can't comment on reactions as a bipolar II person. But regardless, I'll be getting it.

Thanks for the responses. I'm not sure of it's vaccine related either. I just know that I was ok until this weekend. The benefits definitely outweigh the side effects if they are related. My head is more clear today but I caught myself impulse spending. I see my pdoc tomorrow so I will talk it over with him. I didn't get my homework done for my class but hopefully I can get it done before tomorrow's class.

My wife and I got our first shot(Moderna) on March 9th. Over two days, had significant pain in the arm and felt like I had a mild cold. My Tourette Syndrome flared, but by day three, my mood began to take a nose dive. Suicidal thoughts ramped up. Sleep, which has been a challenge for years, got worse; waking up multiple times during the night and strange dreams.

I suspect that when phase 3 trials were being conducted, people afflicted with any mental illness were excluded, thus we don't know the psychiatric side effects of any of the vaccines. I'm quite worried that the second shot will be like a kick in the gut, physically and mood wise. I've been barely functioning for many years and the irony would be that something meant to help us might send me over the edge. Calling my pdoc this week to discuss this.

I had the my first Moderna shot yesterday morning. Didn't feel anything, then 12 hours after the shot my arm became sore. I felt sleepy, and slept really well.

Today my arm hurt just a bit, I took Advil, and all was cool until I took a walk. Not that long of a walk, but I became extremely tired and moderately depressed. I feel the way I would feel if I had a slight virus. No doubt about it. I thought I was totally out of the woods. Nothing huge or terrible, but definitely don't like the depression and hope it passes soon.

I'm quite sure that no one checked in depth into psych med interactions, etc. And does everyone get somewhat depressed (or very) when they're sick? I always do. And it's not my expectation, it's an endemic reaction.
