Hi everyone,
My diagnosis changed today from unspecified mood disorder to bipolar disorder with psychosis. I am feeling a bit overwhelmed by this information even though it doesn’t really change anything. Are there any resources out there for newly diagnosed people. I have been having issues for a while, I also have learning disability but bipolar is new to me.

Welcome to MSF. It's normal to feel overwhelmed just after diagnosis and it does get easier with time. Are you seeing a psychiatrist and therapist? Both are great resources.

The best reference I have is Psych Education which is written by a psychiatrist who specializes in BP. He has tons of information about diagnosis, treatments, the disease, etc.

i agree with the wise and wonderful BeyondtheRainbow! Hopefully you will be able to better handle your new diagnosis here as time does pass. i Hope and Pray that other members will be able to assist you as well. Definitely contact your own therapist or pdoc as well if you have any questions. i am here if you need some support and Hopefully many others as well. Sending many safe, warm hugs to BOTH you, @SQLVR, your Family, your Friends and ALL of your Loved Ones! Keep fighting and keep rocking NO MATTER WHAT HAPPENS, OK?!

I have a similar disorder and believe you should not worry about your diagnosis ,but instead how well you do on medications. It took me about 15 years to find a good medication for me. I'm doing well now but don't want to repeat the experiences of trying to find the right medication. Now, I'm doing well but it also took me some time to be compliant. So, don't be like me, take your medication as prescribed and do well with what you have. Best Wishes!

I also was diagnosed with Bipolar with psychotic features.
My giant pill cocktail was awful, I now take an injection every two weeks instead.
Took me forever to find what worked for me. I was waiting for 20 years for my miracle. Although I still need tweaking of doses and whatnot. Rissperdal consta, an intramuscular injection every two weeks.

Welcome to the forums! It definitely takes a while to adjust to the idea of having a disorder such as bipolar. I still have mixed feelings and it's been 6 years (I think?) since my initial diagnosis.
