I have physical issues that wake me up at night, but lately my mind has been racing (1 thought after another after another!) so I can’t seem to sleep more than 4 hours. I am generally ok during the day, even in a good mood. My focus is ridiculous though.

Not sure how worried I should be.

That sounds kind of scary although I have unipolar and not bipolar depression. Wish I knew what to say that would help.

No. I have done well for quite awhile, so I guess I have been trying to justify my insomnia. Stupid of me?
Thanks for this!

No. Not stupid at all! I get racing mind at night if I drink caffeine late in the day.

Do you have a therapist you can talk to?

@Bp1978:

Hi there,

Racing thoughts are so unpleasant and such an obstacle for functioning. I don't know if this will work for you, but my racing thoughts are calmed by Risperdal 2mg. It works wonders for me! When not on it, my thoughts just charge along and it is hard to get anything done. On it, i am the Queen of my household!

Hope things improve for you!

Don't stress yourself out over it, but like others said do get in contact with your doc as these things tend to escalate over time and a quick med change or addition can make a world of difference. In the meantime, take part in activities that calm and focus the mind. For some examples I like playing musical instruments, writing, reading (this one is hard with racing thoughts but I find once I can get into the zone it's doable), and crocheting.

Sending gentle hugs if wanted

I have been well for so long I guess I felt that I was fine, so not on any meds anymore. I have been feeling like I was smoking pot lately (not smoking), but it feels soooo good, I don’t want this feeling to go away.

A psychiatrist diagnosed me with bipolar 2 about 15 y ago, but I haven’t been on meds for about 2 years…

I feel so good right now, don’t want it to stop… stupid I know… I haven’t seen a psychiatrist in so long. I just keep thinking I will be fine

That's how I felt when I was last manic - thinking everything will be fine on and on -until it wasn't.

I would contact your pdoc and be honest about your symptoms. They may prescribe something to bring you down.
