I am a parent of three teenagers, 14, 16, 18. They are wonderful kids, I have a wonderful wife, and we are extremely fortunate to have resources to help our kids.

Middle kid suffered 2 concussions 6 years ago. Went to the Pittsburgh Concussion center for treatment. Kid has visual snow, chronic headaches, and recently diagnosed as unspecified Bipolar.

We have watched several cycles, we have done trauma therapy, DBT, CBT, and every thing from Lithium, triptolines, and currently on lamotragine.

She is a remarkable kid, has all the tools, uses them well, but we are experiencing an especially vicious hypomanic episode... could really use some advice

Is she on something besides lamogatrine? It usually is considered to be more effective for depression while other meds help more with the higher side of things.

I hope she feels better soon. It sounds like you are doing everything right.

Lamotrigine is a pretty activating mood stabilizer like BeyondtheRainbow said, it sounds like she needs something that's more of an anti-manic right now. I'm not sure how it works with adolescents if you're allowed to talk to her prescriber yourself or if she is able to by herself but definitely one of you need to bring it up to her med provider so he or she can do his/her job.

I feel so bad for what has happened to your daughter. Like others have suggested it sounds like she needs something in addition to Lamictal. Is she having severe anxiety?
