Through trauma processing with a therapist - I’ve learned that my psychotic episodes were manic episodes.
I officially came out as bipolar on Facebook on world bipolar day. It’s no longer something that I feel the need to be ashamed of. I came out as bipolar (again) today

It does take some getting used to- being diagnosed bipolar. I think we all question our diagnosis and then reality sets in. It's happened to me many many times.

I had no idea there is a world bipolar day.... I wish I had the courage to be open about it, but it's just too much to deal with. For a number of years only my wife and closest brother and sister knew. I told another brother who told my aunt, and then before I know it my whole freakin family knows. It was incredibly traumatic and still bugs me. To top it off it's become this thing no one ever wants to acknowledge, so it's awkward and unsupportive.

Sorry if that was a derail, but maybe it loosely applies to being 'out'.

I wish everyone the best on this world bipolar day.

Acceptance can definitely take time, but is crucial for proper treatment and possibly needed lifestyle changes. Just know that not everyone in the world has to know about all struggles, though. Hugs

That must've been hard. Congrats, and like soupe said don't feel the need to share everything with the world.

Congratulations! I agree, you don't have to share everything with the world (or anyone you don't need or want to)

I am so sorry that nobody ever wants to acknowledge it. Mental health impacts every aspect of your life, so that’s tough to hear. Sending hugs!
