Good people, I find myself incredibly hypomanic and paranoid. How can I come down without increasing my meds? I'm booked to get a bunion removed and I'm afraid the surgeon won't operate if I've been manic. My toe hurts so bad I can barely walk.

Last night taking a hot shower and drinking hot tea helped a bit. My boyfriend suggested that. He's so sweet. It was the kinda tea that makes you sleepy. I also wrote about my feelings, don't usually write but it felt good. Doing this stuff now isn't helping.

Do you have any other ideas?

I don't think there is a way without meds. For mania.

Jogging or other such exercise can help with hypomania (I think)

Insight is the name of the game there. At least, that's what my therapist always tells me. If you can take a step back, reflect and consider your position, you're good. Sounds like you're doing just that. As far the surgeon goes, barring you walking into their office in a full manic episode, why would they care?

If you do start finding yourself going further and further upward, you might consider upping the meds anyway. At least tease out what a med change would entail, so everyone has an idea of what to do and where to go.

If you haven't already done it, good luck on the surgery and speedy recovery!
