My PA prescribed Caplyta. I have never heard of it, but I read that it's for bipolar depression. I didn't tell him I feel depressed. I don't really feel depressed, just sad about my therapy situation.

Anyone have experience with it?

Sorry, I’ve never heard of it either. Hope it helps. I know my latuda helps me and back when I was first prescribed it I had never heard of it. It turned out to be my miracle drug.

Hi Beth. I've never heard of that med either, but perhaps it could be helpful. As for your possible symptoms, I see some as leaning depressive. Not all depressive symptoms seem "classic", though. What I've noted is distress with some obsessive compulsive features. That doesn't mean I think you have OCD. Obsessive compulsive symptoms can often be part of bipolar depression or hypo/mania. I've definitely experienced obsessive-compulsive symptoms in the past without OCD. It's a little discussed topic in bipolar disorder. I see clear parallels between your current over focus on Mary and a past one I had with my last psychiatrist. This all follows your distressing experience with the psychiatrist.

You are one perceptive woman! I began having OCD symptoms when I was 8 years old...OCD ran in my father's family like wildfire. I am diagnosed with it, though it is lower on the list than BD and PTSD. I'm proud of myself because all of my life I've been working with my OCD and cope with the behaviors quite well - although it is ongoing work.

Where I get really stuck, though, is with obsessive thinking - as you've mentioned. (Yes - distress is the word.)

Definitely part of the problem I'm having with Mary - although some of it has to do with serious, chronic physical illness (in addition to her mental illness) my mother had and my role in that from the time I was a child until she died when I was 42. Long story.

I'm going to read the article & will comment on it on this post. I had no idea that bipolar disorder and OCD could be connected.

btw, if you want to share, I'd be really interested in hearing some about your O-C with your former pdoc.

i don't have any experience with the med but I've seen commercials for it. First the commercials were for schizophrenia now they're for bipolar depression...? interesting

Yeah, it's supposed to be a "one size fits all" for BD, schizophrenia, schizoaffective, etc. And there's no titration, everyone starts and stays at the same dose. Supposedly no weight gain.

I'm skeptical, but willing to try it.

Soupe, the article is eye-opening. Actually, it shouldn't be a surprise, though...people with schizophrenia often have OCD, too.

I am obsessing, but I don't think it's exactly Mary I'm obsessing over. It's the feeling of abandonment, betrayal, broken trust, etc. that I'm obsessing over. She just represents those things...I'm not, for example, the least bit interested in what M. is doing at this moment. What I'm upset about is her treatment of me.

I'm just not sure yet. The hungry feeling has completely gone away, if anything I feel less hungry than normal. So that's good.

Exactly. My mind is quieter, but I need to fall asleep within a reasonable amount of time.
