Last question

Did your high school have an undeclared war between the jocks and the egg heads?

I had to google what "egg heads" means.

I went first to a sorta small public high school. Then an even smaller private one. In the public, I never really noticed "the jocks" behavior much beyond who picked kids last for gym sports, and yelled loudest at those who sucked at them. [I was often picked about last, because I refused to participate...once getting an F.] There were girls who were bullies, but never thought of them as jocks, per se. The very biggest female "jock" wasn't really so bad. I just thought of the mean people as "mean", without labeling in other ways. I was always an outcast at my public school, for various reasons. I was surely in better shape than most all in my class, but intensive ballet, not sports. [Long story.] As for the private school, it was very liberal. I don't recall many students being against each other. Most there were misfits. As for the "intellectuals", I saw a bit more of that at the public school. At the private...Was I an intellectual? Never thought of myself as one, yet maybe??? I was first in the teeny class, but didn't try to be and didn't think I should've been, even refusing the recognition. I don't recall ever picking fights with anyone. I was mostly a pacifist.

How many "best friends" have you had in your life?

3. One grew apart when I left for college and didn't come home, the 2nd fell apart after college when we just went different ways in life (and my bipolar screwed things up) and the last was lost to bipolar and differences of opinion about how to handle it. That one and I have had some contact in the last year but very little which is sad.

Do you have favorite brands of products like cleaners, toilet paper, paper towels, etc?

Cleaners not so much but definitely TP and paper towels. It seems as if the disparities between the brands has gotten more extreme in the last few years. No name paper towels just don’t deliver any more they disintegrate and fall apart. The same with TP. For cleaners I prefer vinegar and baking soda, so bulk quantities. For laundry I’m not particularly picky, they all do ok. I used to prefer target brand but there’s no target near here and I’m not going to drive an hour just to shop.

Interesting question, so same question.

I'm sorry to say that we don't buy based on the products being environmentally friendly. Rather, we buy in bulk at Costco. We're not "cheap"...just "thrifty."

The World Cup Soccer Tournament is only held every four years, and is the most watched athletic tournament in the world. It starts at the end of November. Do you have any interest in watching? If so (or not), which country would you root for? I always root for Germany.

Neither my husband nor I are that into sports, but we likely will watch at least the finals. If CZ managed to get into them, though doubtfully, it would be a national euphoria. My father in law was apparently a HUGE fan of European futbol, and the Prague team Slavia, in particular. I once attended a futbol game in Poland in 1992. Um, yes, Europeans are indeed mad about the sport!

What are some stadium events (music, sports, etc.) that you have attended in the past?

A few concerts (Modest Mouse, Tropical **** Storm, Jelly Roll, Shinedown), and some 4th of July fireworks shows that were at baseball stadiums.

When do you wear hats?

I used to wear hats year round. I have dozens of hats but no baseball or cowboy hats. I’ve had people try to buy them off of me! But the last few years I get too hot to wear hats any more except in the dead of winter. So cold, cold winter days are when I wear hats now.

What would you sing at karaoke night?

My go to song is "You Can't Hurry Love" by the Supremes. Written before I was born, lol

Have you ever sung karaoke?

Sing? Yes. Karaoke? No.

What is a film you would consider to be "so bad it's good?"

Do you like staying in a hotel or AirBnb? Which do you like better?

I always stay in hostels and I love them.

Motels are creepy and cool, totally David Lynch.

Hotels are, meh, okay. They feel lonely, even if I'm with people.

I've never done the airBnb thing, but my son and DIL love that route.

I used to like bed n' breakfast places, more or less.

Q: Do you enjoy religious services?

If we're talking the religious services in my hometown, they're "eh" to me. If you're over college age in a small Midwestern town, church is about the only way to meet people, to socialize. I don't particularly share their beliefs much, but I've known these people for a long time. Also, my mom has been a member since I was younger.

Have you sat in on a religious service or observance for a faith different than your own?

I’ve been to many different observances from what I was raised as, Buddhism, Wicca, Jewish, catholic, various Protestants. I have had friends from all walks of life. And have always been open to new things.

What makes you laugh the most?

My husband's humor, my own, and then certain late night comedy shows. I'd say that Hubby is the funniest person I ever knew well. It was certainly one of the many draws to him. Also, if he didn't like my humor, it wouldn't have worked.

What type of humor do you like most?

Depends on my mood. I like Stephen Colbert. I enjoy some old sitcoms. I haven't seen a movie in so long I don't know if I like them or not. I tend towards drama not comedy in movies. Not always but often.

Do you try to reach a certain time before trying to go to sleep?

Not specifically. I try to make it until 8pm to take my meds, but my Haldol usually wears off around this time so I end up taking it a little earlier with all my other meds which translates to falling asleep earlier than I wanted.

What's the last thing you tried teaching yourself? Were you successful, still working on it, or did you give up?

I am studying all kinds of things all of the time, but a big example is learning Czech. It's extremely hard and I know that I won't make sufficiently good progress until I resume formal classes. I've put them off for various reasons.

What is a topic that you love studying about?

History of any kind because it touches on so many different disciplines. Philosophy, politics, science. Also, because it shows to universality of the human experience. Substitute a toga for a suit and you find people doing the same thing then as now.

What is a good motto to live by?

I'm gonna have to steal my state's motto for this one. "Live free or die."

The whole desiderata. It’s not as easy too remember as, keep calm and carry on. But I’ve found it to be a wonderful inspiration as a way to live life. Part of it is in my signature. The other motto I often repeat to myself is simply the word, KINDNESS. It reminds me to take a breath and try to see things from another POV before getting all bent out of shape.

A wonderful question, what motto do you live by?

Oh, I missed a few posts! No I’ve never had a snake as a pet. Uff, no! My cousin scared me to death when we were kids. I lifted up a huge piece of metal and there was a snake under it, I screamed and dropped it on the snake. My cousin said snakes could travel underground faster than I could run and that he was mad at me. I couldn’t sleep for days waiting for the snake to get me!

If you could hire someone to help you would it be with, cleaning, yard work or cooking?
