I’ve worked part time for the last 2 years but due to factors outside my control I’ll be going full time. I’m so nervous.

My hours fluctuate a bit, but for the past several months I've had close to full 40hr weeks. It can be stressful, but it helps immensely that it's a job I really enjoy and not just a job for a paycheck.

I'm in the process of finding a part time job. I didn't even get a call saying it was a no for a job I applied to that I thought I'd get for sure. So that was discouraging. I do have a plan B but they arent hiring right now.

Part time, I’m lucky I can afford to, I’m not sure I could do full time.

Good luck! Were you full time before these last 2 years?

I tried a 30 hour a week job a couple months ago and it was a failure. I couldn’t work 9–10 hours with one 15 minute break. I feel like such a failure since itshould have been a super easy job for me. I have only passively looked for a new job.

Yes I feel like a failure and we need more income than SSDI offers

Well, that's not even legal. No one should have to work that kind of schedule.

I work part time about 15 to 18 hours a week. 3 days a week. The other 2 weekdays are filled with support staff, therapies, and groups.

I'm overwhelmed I'm busy all the time Weekends are spent with my mom. Than back to Monday. I literally have to plan downtime.

I sleep a lot. I go to bed about 7:30 pm and wake up about 7:30 am. every day even weekends with my mom.

I do doordash for about 10 or 15 hours. It pays ok, and it keeps me under the $1050 limit to where your ticket to work kicks in. I got this job to get used to working again. I have not worked for like 13 years, then my wife passed away, and I can't survive off of SSDI alone.

I work part time. Full time would be very difficult for me.

PS SSDI sees one as a full time student capable of working a full time job. I know one person who lost their SSDI for this reason. So make sure you know what you are doing before going to school full time.

I’m currently working part time. 25% for two weeks, then 50%. I hit unfortunately the wall last year and was four months away from work.

I work full time saturdays and an occasional sunday but that gets too hard for me.I am trying to get back to just working mon thru fri but it is busy trying to keep up with md orders and making charts and keeping every thing organized I got up somewhat early so I could make phone calls and make appointments.
I was able to schedule so that makes me feel good.I am still behind in getting my taxes ready for the tax man. Need to get those ready. I told jeff that he needed to get his records in order for his self employed job, outside giggs from his regular job.
It is only feb so we do still have some time.

I’m on SSI. It’s all I get. Does it matter how much you work on SSI? Is it a thousand dollar limit?

I've collected SSDI for several years now. Before that, for four years I was on and off full and sometimes part-time private disability through my last job. During that four year period, I clocked over two years either inpatient or in PHPs or IOPs (partial/intensive outpatient programs). Some of the time I worked during that period (mostly part-time and for a bit full), I either struggled, greatly, or gradually became manic to the point of "mental explosion" -- full tilt! When that happened, I had achieved a project that ultimately saved the company big bucks, but at the cost of my brain. I was on the verge of a huge promotion that never happened because of the final straw -- just short of 10 years at that particular company.

During these years on SSDI, I either functioned very poorly (early years) or made some progress towards possible future work again. But when I dipped my toes into more responsibilities, I soon after faultered, especially when adding too many too soon. Usually taking multiple steps backwards, as a result. However, in recent years, I have very gradually made some progress, but the progress mostly equals what a good housewife (sans children) was known to do, plus some extras. I have here and there done some bit of writing (non-paid) and teeny bit of research and editing for a book my husband worked on, but that's it. The whole preparations for our move to Europe, settling in, and my bit of contribution for our upcoming home is the limit to my capabilities, while still maintaining reasonable stability. And I'm proud of these accomplishments! Fact is, what my ambitions were at age 20 and 30, do not apply to the me of 50+. I won't call the me now as lesser, though. What I've survived and achieved these past 18 years is A LOT! A huge job and achievement in and of itself. One could liken my journey of recovery to "learning to walk again". Walking, but certainly not planning or able to do any hundred yard dash...perhaps ever again. But I am "walking", even if slowly.

This is just my journey. We are not all the same here.

I work full-time and fortunately with an owner that is sympathetic and flexible. For example, I sent him a text Monday morning that stated I had an episode over the weekend and needed to take a mental health day. No questions asked, no nagging emails waiting for me on Tuesday. It's a blessing, for sure.

I am not working right now because I'm in rehab. I have an arrest record now, so I don't think I can get a job.
