Would I be a failure if decided to try full time work after graduation instead of continuing to my masters degree? I need a break abd I’ve been researching jobs for a bachelors and they are out there! I need to really deeply think about it.!

It would mean I’d drop ssdi and go back to full time.

I was in similar situation 2011, when I was 25. Took the job while also was focusing to finishing my bachelor degree in teaching programme. And all of this stress plus doctors wrong medicines (for the first time) gave me bipolar disorder.

So I, out of my own experience, would say to go for the masters degree. Cause you will find job afterwards anyway. Plus it will save you that much amount of stress.

Halliebeth, you won't be a "failure" no matter what you do. It's an individual choice, and I believe the choice depends upon where you feel most at ease - in an environment of employment or in the academic environment.

My daughter (if I recall correctly, she is your age) got her bachelor's and decided to go straight ahead for her master's. She is close to getting that, and will continue on to pursue her PhD. But she absolutely loves the academic environment; it's where she feels most comfortable. She will be teaching a univ class this summer (in Iceland!), and will continue teaching once she has her PhD.

The concern, of course, is whether you will "go back" to achieve your master's once you're employed. That said, the bottom line is that it depends on whether you really do want your master's or whether you're more comfortable staying with a job that requires a bachelor's.

My daughter and her cousin both had that choice. My daughter has bipolar and two young kids, chose to work full time and not continue with school. She’s happy with her choice but she also has two children so school is tougher with working part time. Her cousin though also had 3 children but chose school. It was tough but she doesn’t have bipolar so though the stress was considerable she pushed though. She now makes upwards of 100,000 a year and can diagnose people. The decision is ultimately up to you.

It’s just that stress is my biggest vulnerability factor and almost always brings creates a mood episode of it gets bad enough and school doesn’t help. I go to a very conservative school with very rigorous programs

My son took the summer between his BS and master's off tried to find a job found that too stressful so he went back after the summer. Hated it and transferred in theory he "likes" this school better but it's online. And starts PHP tomorrow.

I’m trying to take it day by day. I went ahead and applied to the msw program but I’ve not committed to anything and my stress is getting better as I get closer to the end is my bachelors.

You know I think you need a break from school you have run yourself ragged. Take a year off and see how Fulltime work goes.

Either way I think you would be good. If you do the ticket to work the first 9 months you can make as much money as you can and after that they start deducting from you payments if you make over in your work checks. They do that for 36 months and I can't remember if the 36 starts before or after you finish the 9 months. After the 36 months you are dropped from SSDI if that is what you are on. If you quit before the end of the 36 months you can go back on SSDI without having to fill out the forms again. This is how they explained it to me when I called and asked. You can also keep your medicare if that is what you are on for like 93 months. You have to pay out of pocket after the 9 months. Good luck
