Clonidine (catapres) is used off-label for insomnia. I am trying it tonight. I am wondering if others have used it for that, or, for anxiety.

It lowers the blood pressure and mine is normal and sometimes low, so I do not know if I will be able to tolerate that effect.

A prescriber offered Clonidine to me for insomnia, but I had a fear of the possible bp drop.

I am doing sort of OK but it is too early to tell for sure. Will continue experimenting. There seems to be a small bp drop after I took 4 pills (two before I fell asleep and two more after I woke up at 4 AM something) and I am drinking coffee to counteract. But I did sleep.

That's great! Sleep is just so important. It sounds like the Clonidine is a good med for you.

It's great that it worked so quickly, I can empathize with your situation so I know what a relief a night of sleep can be.

Yesterday I took it together with 5 mg of Zyprexa ODT and I had a good night of sleep and was able to get up at 6:30 (after going to bed at 10PM something). We will see if I can get through the day without taking a nap. But OURA ring shows that on Clonidine I get deep sleep, something I do not get without it. So I think it is a good addition for me.

ODT, or Zydis, means orally disintegrating tablets. You do not swallow them but put them under the tongue.
