I only have Peacock and Netflix streaming so not really. I watch something streaming while i take my pills and then play Candy Crush until I run out of lives every night (doesn't take long).

Do you have a game you play for distraction?

@raspberrytorte I think you posted in the wrong thread. This is questions. But glad you are getting the cat hat and sorry about Latuda sounding scary. I only was on it a few weeks but don't even remember it beyond that. Must not have been too awful.

Not right now. I used to do this puzzle thing a lot though. It was this black rectangle case thing that had a bunch of figures in different shapes that you had to fill the holes with starting with a few shapes in given positions (it was kinda tetris-ish with the fitting shapes in spots idea)

Are you a house plant person?

I would love to be a house plant person but I have a kitty who thinks they are snacks. My mom was starting a spider plant for me because they are cat safe. I'll have to ask about it. Thanks for the reminder!

Are you needing warm clothes yet where you live? I just hauled my hoodies up the stairs from storage in the garage.

Yes. I'm already starting to wear my hoodies and joggers and wrist warmers and socks and boots. Not cold enough for winter coat yet though thankfully, but I'm really in need of that new winter hat for in the mornings dropping little lady off at school! And I still have to buy a black winter scarf. Got gloves covered. Have all the leggings I need... just need to get my booty to some goodwills to find some new black skirts!

Are you on an AD? Or do you have adverse reactions to them?

Both. I had adverse reactions to all of them but have done well on Emsam (an MAOI) for 15 years. Almost exactly because I know I was in the hospital getting on it for Halloween. The MAOI works so differently that it's tolerable for those who don't tolerate other ADs. SSRIs were some of the most painful mistakes of my life.

Are you going to vote this year?

Yes. Probably this week in fact.

Are you having trouble with the changing seasons?

No. I'm doing fine. 😊 The cooler temperatures are actually nicer to me physically. I don't feel fatigued and lethargic all the time. In hot temperatures I feel like a wilted flower. 🥀

What mood stabilizer are you on and how long have you been on it?

I’m on Vraylar which is an antipsychotic not a mood stabilizer I think. Though it does treat mania and depression so maybe it is? Six weeks.

Have you ever blacked out during a manic episode?

I have a lot of holes in my memory from pretty much every bad episode I've had. I get mixed more than manic and those have left me with weeks I don't remember. My therapist says it is a good thing to not remember.

Is the upcoming time change or the spring one harder for you?

My favorite author of all time is Laura Ingalls Wilder.

At what age did you first go on psych meds and what med was it?

Aged 28, don’t remember which AD they prescribed but it sent me over the cliff.

How old were you when you got your bipolar diagnosis?

26 although I clearly had it for about 5 years prior. I just lied to cover it.

What is the worst med you've ever taken?

Side effect wise, haldol, but I will give it credit in that I didn't have a lot of psychosis on it. Could I function when I had zero emotions except wanting to kill myself from the akathisia? No, but I wasn't thinking every piece of text was code created by some malicious entity to gaslight me. Risperdal consta comes in a close second with 2 weeks of delirium and thinking I was in a different universe every unquantifiable but subjectively short amount of time.

Is there any one specific thing that happens that's not really in the DSM or talked about that you noticed happens/that you do before an episode?

Before I get manic the universe gets very bright. The colors are very enhanced and vibrant. Don’t know if that’s in the recent DSM or not, I’ve not looked at the last few iterations of the Bible.

Interesting Q, same again.

There is a study out there saying as many as a third of BD patients experience color vibrancy in hypomania.

For myself, before having consistent days of elevation, there's a day here and there where I have a hyperfocused study where I say something like "I want to know how a tumor starts" and in the process I have to read about every single semi-related detail from cellular structure to genetics to cancer treatments and whatever else pops up. A lot of times I'll say "going to the library" but end up going practically to Canada, maybe stopping for an hour or t wo hike if I have sneakers or boots.

How would your life be different without bipolar disorder?

Oh! What an interesting question. I'd be working. I wouldn't be fat from psych meds. I would have probably finished college (maybe. Honestly, I hated school with a passion and really my anxiety disorder is what got in the way of me finishing, not bipolar. Well, and my asshole parents).

I don't think my life would really be much different, other than the weight and working thing. And having to be on meds and see a psychiatrist and therapist and deal with everything that comes with having a mental disorder.

Same question.

I’d still be working at a private school and I’m pretty sure I’d still be married to my ex husband. It’s too much to think about.

What do you normally use to browse these forums? A phone, a tablet, a computer etc….

My phone.

Same question.

(Because I can't think of a question right now!)

My laptop

What is the weirdest (not most embarrassing, just weird) thing you've done with hypo or manic?

For the past few months, yeah, but in general, no.

How many times have you moved in your life?

Moved states three times within those states moved more times than I can remember. When manic I just up and go, by bus, even if it meant being homeless. Moved from Minnesota to New Mexico with a backpack and a suitcase. No goal just wanted a new beginning. Knew no one, had no reservation, just wanted someplace where no snow, but not California or Texas.

Ever started over in a new place, not knowing anyone?

Hell no! I'd be so scared. And my anxiety would skyrocket.

What's your clothing style?
